Just to introduce myself, My name is Rob Ashe and I'm from Gilby, ND. I'm 22 years old and I've been a daily visitor to his board for quite some time now and I'm just getting around to posting as I have been waiting to get my Jackson in presentable order for picture taking before I posted on here. I'm hoping to learn more about my guitar (technical specs, manufacturer info) and about Jacksons in general. I've been playing guitar for 12 years, which included a two year stint studying Jazz Guitar and Music Industry at Moorhead State University. I'm primarily a metal player, Dimebag Darrell is my favorite guitar player of all-time, but I also love blues and classic rock as well. Hendrix, Gilmour, Vai, SRV, Hammett/Hetfield are all big influences.
My guitar is what I think (key word being think) is a 1993 Jackson Rhoads Pro (#J303577). I recently replaced the factory Licensed Floyd Rose with a Real Floyd and the pickups are 2 EMG 89's. I was hoping that someone may be able to tell me for sure what year the guitar was made, where it came from and what the color of the paint is called (I didn't find anything close on any color charts). I have tried finding the info through dealers and some friends with not much luck. The guitar was a gift from my mom on the day of my first live show with my band 4 years ago this june. We went to the local music store so I could grab some strings before heading to the show, and I ended up wandering into the guitar room to see what they had in stock. In the back corner sat the Jackson, which shocked me because the store was NOT a Jackson dealer. The guitar had come in earlier that week by way of a trade in. Fortunately for me, my mother had been saving up for 6 months to buy me a new guitar for school (I had just gotten accepted into MSUM at the time), so I got to basically take home my dream guitar. The Rhoads has been my favorite guitar shape since I first saw Kirk Hammett playing them back when I was younger. The dark metallic purple is still something I have yet to see on too many other guitars.
here are a few pics of me and the guitar from a while back and I'll post some pictures with the new floyd all polished up later today when I finish working on it. If anyone has any info they can give me I would greaaaaatly appreciate it.
