Thanks guys. Reading these posts reminded me of why the JCF rules.

Today was her first day back at work. I gave her a thorough reminder to take it easy and make sure she eats. Hopefully everything went well. She wants to do all kinds of housework and stuff when she gets home so I scolded her for that and told her I'd do it... problem is I don't know how to work the laundry machine..

Her and I are both very blessed. We are a strong Christian family and we are very thankful for everything we've been given, however big or small. Money is money and I am confident that no matter how many hospital bills come around, things will work out.

I see no reason that, as long as she keeps up her diet and exercise, she'd be able to handle this disease. The main thing I was concerned about is that later on if we want to have kids would it affect her childbearing. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

One thing that I am noticing is how much you learn about a specific disease or condition after going through it or having a loved one go through it. I feel like I've learned a great deal about this particular disease. Maybe I can help educate someone in the future?

My dad has the same thing. He was diagnosed 10 years ago and has been watching his diet and exercise and has been doing great! It will get better. You're in our prayers!

And I agree 100% with that statement. I didn't know jack shit about diabetes before i was diagnosed wit it when I was 11, and now at 17 I know the in's and out's of it like the back of my hand. I guess when you are handed something like that its either you learn everything there is to know about it or you put yourself into at risk or a loved one at risk if some incident happens.

My uncle just had this happen to him. He was not very old either. Only 38. He had to get a good size chunk taken out of his intestines. He's now back to being the same great uncle he was though.

Sorry to hear that Thor. I suffer from diverticulosis as well. That's what it's called when the pockets are there but not inflamed. Diverticulitis is when the pockets get infected or inflamed. Bad times, I know, but I was diagnosed at 30 and am 49 now, still no colostomy bags.

If she does the right things she will probably stave off the symptoms and complications for life. It will mean a healthier lifestyle for you too if you follow her lead. This condition is pretty common in the US die to our diet of processed foods and our sedentary lifestyles. But it is manageable.

I suffer from diverticulosis, too. I was diagnosed in November 2006.

Thor - my mother has had diverticulitis for 10 years now. She has changed her diet and has had only one flare-up in the 10 years. My thoughts and prayers are with you both, my friend.

Take care of her and and get well.24 is no age to be dealing with anything like that. Fukk, that's so bad to hear. Her youth will overcome it, it's definitely an advantage , i hope that she only feels better each hour. Be tough for her , and that helps too. Kick the hell out of that condition and I think there's a little kharma that goes on in here when some of us are troubled, so you have an army behind you Thor.

hey, great news that she's on the upswing. i cannot imagine the scare you went through. i guess the bright side is she is going to be forced to lead a healthy lifestyle which will put her well ahead in the long run over most of us "healthy" folks!
