My heart and deep respect to all our American soldiers, Vets and their families.

Please, and I realize this may be hard, but if all possible, don't turn this thread into an anti American political bashing thread and etc.

was having a nice day until i saw picture. it is easy sometimes to remove yourself from all the pain going on. i can not even imagine the pain/fear/anger she is feeling. if only the answer was clear to all this.

My former National Guard unit was over there for 18 months. One of the kids I trained while I was in (1989 - 1999) was killed by an IED. I had a very difficult time with that. It was a very painful time. I was not in the Guard when he was killed, but had a strong bout of "survivor's guilt". I can only begin to imagine the pain felt by his family and new wife.

Everyone should see that picture. I don't support this war any more, but I don't hate those who put us there either. We need to come up with a solution to this as a UNITED COUNTRY. Politics need to be set aside. Republicans AND Democrats got us there (contrary to what both sides will try to say now...) - now they BOTH need to work together to get us out.
