I know SD makes a little '59 but a lot of people say it sounds nothing like a humbucker

Im planning to get a JB Trembucker for the bridge so something that compliments that but not sure whether to go with cool rails or hot rails or something that sounds like a humbucker from dimarzio.
The Cool Rails is supposed to sound close to a PAF-type of humbucker, so I'd go with one of those.

Full Shred: extremely tight pickup, sounds awesome in les pauls, I think it could be higher output but it's great as-is.

Livewire Metal: lawnmower of the pickup world, this thing is ridiculous is the only way to put it. Sounds awesome though \m/

                DiMarzio ProTrack. :grin

Not a big SD fan. That said, the new active Mustaine set is a nice departure from EMGs, if you can deal with batteries. The Custom V is pretty even tempered. Cool Rails are good singles (though DiMarzio has a more diverse selection).

I normally wouldn't recommend the Dimebucker, as it's a total ripoff of the Bill Lawrence design. But Bill's L500's now use Alnico-5 magnets instead of Ceramic as in the original design, which the Dimebucker duplicates. He claims the new ones sound the same, but I haven't tried the Alnico ones yet to hear for myself. I can't figure how the two could have the same output levels. The real L500's certainly do offer more finish options than the SD, though, and are less expensive.

The only SD I haven't tried that I want to is the Scott Ian pickup, the Diablo.
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

Hand-crafted electric guitar pickups, acoustic guitar pickups, bass pickups and pedals. Helping musicians find their signature sound since 1976.

Anyone ever check out the Seymour Duncan pickup tones on their site? Would you say their recordings are accurate?

From listening to those in the bridge dirty position, I'd save the Dave Mustaine pickup takes it, followed by the Duncan Distortion.

The Blackout is a letdown, but maybe because the recording is quiet.

I think I may go for the ProTrack... a bit of variety (plus its cheaper)

                        Neck: Jazz, 59
                        Bridge: Custom, Distortion, Full Shred

Haven't tried the PG in the neck but hear it's a good choice. JB in the bridge doesn't impress me too much. It's OK.

I am currently fookin around with a Full Shred bridge pup (non tb) in the neck w/a JB in the bridge. Bolt on neck, alder body, 5 way switch. They sound good together. The FS sounds good in the neck considering. Lots of bite but not as bright as in the bridge. Funny thing is if you turn the treble up all the way it makes a better lead pup than the JB. Cleans up well enough if you roll the treble back a bit.

I have to agree with some others. I think the JB is over rated. It isn't horrible. It isn't even bad. But it seems pretty weak in the mids to me.
