88 days ago I got back on my bike. A reaccuring back problem had kept me off of it for almost a year, well that and the apathy you get from not being able to do something you love for so long. My goal was simply ride every day for 90 straight days and damn the pain. I was pretty overweight for me, 6'2" and 266 pounds. OK, REALLY overweight... Anyhow, it wasn't a pretty sight when I put my lycra on!
This sunday I will hit my goal of 90 straight days on the bike. Almost 2000 miles and I have lost 35 pounds so far. This sunday I will do a 50 mile ride that includes almost 9000 feet of climbing. It will be a hard day for me, but the perfect ride to celebrate making it back onto the bike!
Anyhow, I know that I am NOT the greatest rider on the planet, but for me this was a pretty big deal and took ALOT of hard work and such to make it. I have had to put the guitar on hold while I did this and have really missed playing as well as hanging out here being an ass. So raise a glass for me if you get the chance on sunday, I will be celebrating by raising one for myself!
