He he, I make plenty of money, ta, and I'm certainly no wage slave. Maybe the guys earning my new Jaguar for me think they are, but they don't complain (to me).
Oh, and just because the Govt have banned firearms over here, it doesn't mean we haven't got them....

Actually, I was trying to say it's a sad state of affairs, from your point of view, that your family are that much at each other's throats you need to arm yourselves. Must be bleak to be in a dispute that you can't see being resolved without weapons, in that case, I hope you come out of it on the winning side, all intact.

    Best of luck.
So I woke up,rolled over and who was lying next to me? Only Bonnie Langford!

I've neither said nor implied anything of the sort, as a matter of fact I've said precisely the opposite. And I certainly don't see the situation as being bleak, to the contrary, I believe we'll come out of this in good shape and quite possibly ahead of the game. Carrying a firearm isn't a sign of desperation it's merely a prudent choice when the stakes are high and all of the players might not be playing with a full deck, nothing more and nothing less.

The sense of security of protecting your loved ones and yourself ...

It is the main role of a man, a father and husband.

It is your duty to protect those closest to you. To do everything in your power so that they will not be victims!

That is why we (society) NEED police...we help those who can't help themselves..so police advise good people how to survive on their own, because we can not protect them 24/7..it's impossible.

This is like something from a family feud from the 1800s. You're prepared to kill family members rather than just move? That's crazy!

People act like it's so easy to pick up and go. Maybe it is if you HAVE NOTHING. But some people make a good living where they are at and can't do it elsewhere. You just can't pick up and go.

Sucks... But can't you get a grip on that? I don;t have much in life, but I sure can't just up and leave where I'm at, and I realllly don't wanna be here either.

He's being threatened by somewhat distant and mentally unpredictabe relatives, and merely wants to ensure his and his family's safety. What part can't be understood?

So many people here don't have a clue. No one WANT'S to be in this situation, but, you can't always run away easily.

                Well it's not the 1800's..it is 2007.

Watch the news..shit is happening all over..kids getting abducted, people getting robbed and killed, girls are getting raped and or killed...not by "family members"..by animals..at random..and nobody is exempt!

I wish I had a dollar everytime I heard.."I never thought this could happen to me"..

So, we are leveling the playing field in an attempt to keep the armed animals in check..by arming ourselves.

Responsible , accountable and credible people should have the right to protect themselves at all times.

Yes, it's sad..but it's reality..and I had a front seat view of that reality for a very long time!

If someone here could just get that oil that's 1000 feet under the land to cooperate and flow into nice pools below some beachfront property somewhere I think my sister and I would gladly leave. Until then however ....

I feel sorry for you guys... it sucks to live in fear that some motherfucker can attack you or your family anytime... fucking sad if people can't move either because it would be a lot better to live without fear and guns

True E..I wrote this on the other thread..

just some of the things I've done..on a daily basis.

See, there is no "debate"..no matter how you approach this..just various statements of very naive perceptions of reality.

you can't sugar coat or deny simple logic and reality..you can try.

The majority don't see this reality..just what they see on tv.

I saw death on a daily basis..I didn't watch the news. No, I rolled up my sleeves and retrieved dead babies from dumpters, called SIU for the ladies that were raped and killed with her heads blown off, finding a naked woman who was just dumped from a car who was raped and shot in the head by a suspect I personally knew, A crackhead mother who passed out while her baby died in the same baby swing my kid had, a 7 year old girl that died in my arms in the ER.. who was raped , tortured and murdred by her grandfather..I can continue.

I been to MANY clubs where gangs shot up the place, while the suspects were still armed and at the venue amoung 500+ other people..who were starting a riot..you can still smell the gun powder..you got 500 suspects and maybe 8 cops to deal with the situation.

A father on PCP who crushed his 18 month baby to death and biting his throat..as I was beating him on the head with my mag-lite with full force...I couldn't shoot the fucker because therr was too many cops trying to retrieve the child as well..when he came to..he had no idea what he had done and wanted to kill himself..I wished he did!

Hanging onto a 160lb lady by her waisteband while dangling over a bridge..she prolly thanked Jesus for saving her..I don't even know her name..and I'm sure she don't know mine..

Oh..getting attacked by an irate intoxicated 360lb Corrections Officer who was cut off booze on a plane with approx 200 people on board who simply watched him brutally beat two female flight attendants and a co pilot, then proceeded to kick in the cockpit door while being diverted to Cleveland ..just so I could break my neck fighting that asshole while everyone else watched..which is why I am retired..

                      I could go on..and on..and on..

Yes, we live in a fucking utopia..that I have yet to discover!

Anyone who thinks they are exempt from this shit or will never be a victim or even worse their wife, mother or child is a clueless fool..that needs to get a fuggin' clue...or better yet don't get that clue..you're better off not being a victim like this.

You are getting this straight from the source..no sugar coating, denial, or rose colored bullshit for me..or you..any of you.

That is life..that is reality..and it's nothing but "luck" that you haven't experienced it...and that is a good thing!

No John..that was the dude I told ya about that worked as a cook where I used to work. His name was Bill and he always treated me very nice and made my breakfast sandwiches..this was right before I was a cop.

He was married to a girl that worked at my old job..little did I know he had that mindset. He kidnapped ( a popular DJ's wife) from a parking lot close to that location.

Invest revealed he drove around with a gun to her head forcing oral sex..then he drove to a secluded park, stripped her of her clothes and raped her..then dumped her body on the roadway while exiting the park. He shot her in the head with one shot, We discovered her while on patrol..her head looked like a football (Oblong) and she was completely naked and she was still in "fight" or "survival" mode..she just kept grabbing and reaching with her hands and died within a couple of minutes...it was a very sad thing to witness..I can still see her..and always will.

                          Welcome to my world.

Hey.. WTF Bill?? Maybe I am the only clueless fuckstick that actually gives a shit around here. This is serious shit we are talking about. Gearing up for a potential shootout with family members over mega bucks is serious shit. At least I think it is. And another thing... I am sure that most of the gun carriers that responded to this thread live in nice quiet suburbs. My guess is that they don't live in the crack dealing side of town.
I'm worried about how this will turn out. When guns are involved and the people who are carrying them are pissed and somewhat inexperienced.. it never turns out good. Sometimes you have to step back and take a deep breath and assess the situation before you start packing heat. Emotions.. especially involving family.. seem to cloud most peoples judgement.
I just wanted to try and step in and give another option to what type of gun I should get for my sis who never owned one before.

Maybe I am just one of the rare exceptions to the rule around here. I live in Connecticut and we don't need to carry guns in most areas. The cops are great around here too. They respond in seconds and are more than willing to insure the safety of the people they serve.
I am always prepared for something mentally but for the most part.. I feel safe most all the time.
