Then a DiMarzio X2N, or a Duncan Parallel Axis Distortion Trembucker (PATB-2) will do just fine.

Because of the angled pickup, anything with polepieces won't line up right.

Get a Bill Lawrence L500-XL, Black with a Red casing.

please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

            +1.

I have these in a bunch of guitars also. They sound really nice coil tapped too. Nice bluesy clean sound tapped. Hot in humbucker mode. Very even string articulation. DP102 I believe is the model number.

As a side note, Ibanez used to put a version of this in there X series and proline guitars back in the early 80's too. They were known to be great stock pickups and you still examples of the guitars unmodded so that hs to say something I guess.

                It's thin & trebley though...

Depends on the value of your volume pot. If you think it's too trebley, try a 250K.

DiMarzio Super 3. If that guitar still ha she original Duo-Sound switch, wire it to that too. When you're ready to sell, look me up, I collect those Roadstars.

Yours looks like a late 1986 model since it still has the little "hooks" on the horns and black hardware which was a late introduction. The S/N on the backplate will tell you the year. The first letter is the month (A=January) and the first 2 numbers are the year.

It's G86XXXX. Damn. Serial numbers really mean something to some guitar makers. July 1986.

                          Glad I could help.

I'm personally a huge fan of the IBZ humbucker that is stock in those guitars.
