  • How much does your band get paid to gig.

    Hey fellas,

I'm trying to get an idea of how much variation there is from city to city when it comes down to getting paid to gig. Basicially looking for how much a cover band would make for playing four 45 minute sets in your city.

In El Paso, TX you can expect to make between $200 - $400 a night for four hours and supply your own P.A. If your in an original band then you can expect to play for free, a bar tab, or the door.
    Damn, I love this Interweb.

The casinos in Shreveport/Bossier City pay up to $3,000 for three consecutive nights and that's from 8:00 P.M. til 1:00 A.M. Most of my gigging buddies get $850 per night and that's either the 6-9:30 0r 10-1:30 time slots.

      Here it varies greatly.
Cover band in a casino, you can make $500 per person for a 4 hour gig.
Everything else in the Phoenix area is all over the map.
Some bars will just give you the door and a modest bar tab, others will pay a fee of $400 or $500 per night, plus a decent percentage of the door IF you have a good following.

Most seem to pay jack shit... $200-$300 for the band for two 45 min. sets and you supply the PA.
Not really worth it unless you are just starting out.

We usually get $350-$400 if we lug the PA and we usually try and be really personable with the bar owners which will usually lead to a case of beer on stage for us as well.

Its the same amount in Connecticut and New York.

We've made from 200 bucks to 900 bucks a night. Mostly mid of that range.

            Not worth the time anymore.

I actually could care less about getting paid - I just ain't hauling a fucking PA around anymore. I'll move my rig but that's it - and that's why I play 2x12 cabs now too

I'm yet to see a gig, other than full arena shows, that needed more than a 2x12 cabinet/amp. But don't let me discourage all you young bucks who are dumb and full of cum. Keep on lugging those big ass 4x12 cabinets, I need the business.

Denver is pretty much the same...I would say $200-$300 for a newer band and $500-$1000+ for a more established group with a following.
Most clubs seem to have house PA and lights which is pretty cool...I hate lugging that shit around.

When I was doin' the VH trib gig 10 years ago..we we gettin' anywhere from 650-1300 bucks a night..and always free drinks and sometimes food and motel.

One of the coolest gigs we did was before approx 1200 people and the Beatles trib 1964 opened for us..they we awesome..and I don't even like the Beatles.

at the end of our shows..the intox patrons actually thought we were VH..well they sure acted like it.

We didn't just sound like Van Halen..we did the whole sha-bang..a pretty detailed and elaborate show...with the whole '82 Diver Down tour speaker facade backdrop made of many sheets of plywood and black cloth..which blew off the top of our van once...

I got a show on home vid..

Not a bad part time gig..

When we were gigging here in NJ a couple years ago, we were pulling 4-500 a show. That was with us lugging around a PA system. If you are in it for the $$$, it can be a let down.
