Queen goes even way back... early 70's but what I meant was the bands commercial peak at the 80's... there were many bands who were big durning the 70's but not that big in the 80's
Queen was huge with their cheesy pop songs in the 80's
Genesis and Yes had their commercial break thru in the 80's although their best material was made in the 70's
Savatage... definetly not... neither is Stryper.... they werent that big"There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Let the music do the talking was ok, walk this way was ok, love in an elevator and jamie's got a gun were not good IMO and they haven't gotten better with age, but they seem to be enjoying themselves and people like them, so....ok.When you take a shower in space, you have to press the water onto your body to clean yourself, and then you gotta vacuum it off. - Ace Frehley

Aerosmith and Kiss were the 2 bands that defined music for me (at age 10 roughly) until VH came out.
And I agree completely with you about them.
"Draw The Line" (1977) was the last good studio record and "Live Bootleg" (1978) was the last good record period.
They sold out in the 80's and I can't stand anything they've done since then.

Aerosmith, van halen, led zep had pretty much already established themselves before the eightys, I think all the early aerosmith stuff, up to but not including "draw the line" were great, then it was shitsville for awhile I don't know for the life of me how I forgot ACDC in my top list, all in all compared to the 70s the eightys aren't even close musically, sure every generation has its great bands but damn, there were some great bands in the 70s, So I'm starting a simular 70s threadI say the boy ain't right!

Aerosmith's PUMP was a great album IMO
ZZ TOP is my alltime fav. band.... they were huge in the 80's but they were also pretty lame their 70's stuff is pure gold."There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
