I've got to keep in your cool book.

Allu, I seriously recommend www.musicstore.de, shipping will be free for your guitar and they've got excellent service IMO. No trysies before you buysies though...
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Maybe that's why Allu wants to buy one here. And he's pretty much fucked cause he has to pay taxes no matter where he buys the gear from (thomann.de, musik produktiv etc.). But if he buys it in Slovenia, he can smuggle it in the car .
I think it would be still counted as Eastern Europe somehoow as it is a Slavic country :P. Czech, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, Macedonia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Bosnian, Serbian, and Slovakia.

half of the Europe is slavic... it doesn't have anything to do with geography

I think buying it from Germany would be more expensive than buying it directly from Japan. He has to pay tax to Germany and Croatia if he buys it from Germany .

Thomann is equally good from what I've heard, but do they have free shipping (I have no idea)? That's why I always use musicstore, over a certain amount it's free shipping, no matter the weight. And they're usually pretty fast as well (about 2 days for me).

Sorry, but this doesn't add up... He might have to when it goes to croatia since it's not in the EU(though I doubt it) and Slovenia is part of the EU so there's no added import tax, only a possible difference of VAT that is surcharged. When you count that shipping is free, that's a pretty good deal.

From Japan it'd be-->shipping (which'll be a lot nowadays) + insurance. And he'll have to pay for a flat EU import tax and possible VAT surcharges for Slovenia.

BUT a lot of times (and in the case of Slovenia this is highly likely), the goods enter the EU through Germany. So IF what you're suggesting is true, he'd be even more screwed then:

Pay EU import at German customs + pay croatian import tax (non-EU state) + pay possible slovenian VAT surcharge.

                            ------

Not to mention the hassle of a shipment around the world, if something happens during shipping you've got a shitstorm on your hands. By ordering from Germany you've got an almost hassle-free deal, even in the event of something breaking during transport, which is WAY less likely. (If his guitar is broken, musicstore will send you a brand spanking new one and take the old one with them again.)

                            ------

I think all of that justifies taking a (slight) hit of the higher price for an ESP in Germany.
