And here I'm trying to figure out what a ricer is.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

Whu? The police can confiscate and destroy your car if you have stolen yosemite sam mudflaps? This story makes no sense.
          Don't the cops
          a) confiscate the "stolen" item
b)supposedly try to return it to the original owner
          c) have to charge you for "posession of stolen property"
          d) cops usually auction off unclaimed stolen property, not destroy it unless it's a weapon

For every car smashed, somebody's now going to steal another one to replace it.

Haha, I would honestly give up one of my Jacksons to watch that happen to some of the ricers in my town. Damn Gottis...

As much as some of us and I myself am included in thinking "its funny the cops crushed the ricers cars.LOL" - but theres another part of me that says this is totally wrong and unamerican.

Also I believe this is very unconstitutional. What if the cops liked your car and took it because they thought you took off to fast at a light.

I am sorry but I am ashamed sometimes to live in the Peoples Republic of Califonia its not America anymore its straight up socialist.

Good thing there is a red star on the state flag that way people know.

But how are they going to make The Fast and The Furious 4 ??

I wish they'd implement that over here. We're plagued with shitty little shopping carts - Saxos, Novas, 106s and whatever, all with ridiculous bodywork and doof-doof stereos. (Why would you need a rear wing on a FWD car?)

Why has the guy in the top photo got his shirt pulled half up? Is this another idiot fashion that hasn't made it to these shores yet, or was he getting dressed when the cops arrived with the camera?

AHAHAHAHHAHA F 'em. I watch guys like this drive up and down 1&9 while I am at work here in NJ. I can hear them coming with their loud ass mufflers, so I turn to look. Sometimes they are going twice the speed of other traffic on the road and weaving in and out like they are on their way to a fire. I have also seen plenty of accidents, several fatals, from high up in my tower. I can see why cops are taking drastic measures. Many of these young guys are a danger to themselves, and sadly, every other motorist out there.

IMO that's just stupid. I understand confiscating them, but what's the point of crushing them. Just a waste.

I think it is to make a point. Street race? Your car gets crushed. No ifs ands or buts. No buying back the expensive parts. No keeping the turbo setup or wheels. Crushed, finito, that's a wrap.

Sounds like it would deter people to me.

"Maldonado said he has taken the advice of police by racing legally on one of several race courses around Southern California. For the money spent in fines and other penalties — on average about $5,000 for illegally modified cars — Higbee said street racers could compete about 250 times a year at a legitimate track.
"If you have to race, take it to a legal venue," Higbee said. "But as long as they keep racing illegally, we keep crushing their cars."

+1 to all of that. If you want to race, take it to a race track. Otherwise, you're putting innocent people in serious danger. You get caught racing illegally? Buh buy, car. I have no sympathy.

...If only they would start doing this to people with repeated drunk driving records.
