I'm trying hard to buy an Acura TL Type S (new). I've gone to two dealers so far. First one started on a good note ("We'll try taking $4K off the sticker") but couldn't land the deal (only $2,800 off) and I walked. Sticker is $38,795 BTW. I liked the salesperson, however. Nice guy.

Then I went internet searching. Same dealer was the first to call me back, and offered $3,300 off sticker. But I've seen some paying less on the web ($34,637).

Next I call Dayton - $35,137, but it's 25 miles away. I hit another local dealer in town, and the guy starts off at $36,700. I'm like "You'll need to do a lot better than that". I told the guy about our deal in Dayton and he said he couldn't do it. I'm glad because the guy was a DICK, but I wanted the car (new, still in plastic wrap).

DonP... the TL type S is the hottest seller they have... the dfw dealers won't deal that much on them 3k is huge if you can get it get the automatic, the six speed is awesome but you will grow tired of shifting gears in traffic.

I love slush boxes; had a 5 speed in the Saturn and one in the Trans Am GTA, but it is not to be. My wife can't drive a stick, so the GTA stays the race car.

Got the deal sealed right now. $34,944 at a dealer 13 miles away. Almost $4K off of sticker, but right at invoice. Just need to wait for the wife to get out of the hospital (long story) and go pick up the car hopefully tomorrow.

I didn't know the Type S was that hot - read a lot of flack on the net about how for the price you should go RWD. For me, FWD works for snow, and the cabin has plenty of room for the three kids. And I've always like the looks of the current body.

I like the Lexus IS 350, but too much $$$ and too much power. IS 250 is too weak, and both don't have enough seat room in the back.

The G35 looks too much like an Altima/Maxima, and just doesn't do it for me.

BMW? Look at the repair bills. I have the Consumer Reports New Car Buying Guide and the Acura TL gets fantastic ratings. I'm not going to get the extended warranty any more because I doubt I'll ever use it.

DonP get the "acura care" warranty worth every penny to cover it until 120k... also get the "intire" warranty plan... the tires will cost you 225 or higher a tire if you have a blowout, with intire you only pay about 35 dollars for the new policy on the tire you replace. your choice... good luck!
