Bush is an idiot when it comes to our borders and speaking English.
But he's been steadfast on the war on terror and for that I support him.
We haven't had another 911 on his watch - that tells me he's doing the right thing.

Well there's this other war in Iraq that a lot of Republicans, war veterans and the majority of the American don't quite see eye to eye with Bush on.

As for the war on terror, sure he deserves a lot of credit. He had the balls to go guns a blazin into Afghanistan. But I (and most Americans) think he listened to the wrong advisors (Cheney, Wolfowitz) regarding going into Iraq which has taken resources away from the war on terror and has really thrown a wet blanket on the initial success in Afghanistan.

I think all terrorists need to die a slow, horrible death. You and I don't disagree there. But, there are a lot of Muslim fence sitters there who AREN'T terrorists yet. When some dude loses his entire family to sectarian violence due to the chaos that exists in Iraq today, and he rightly or wrongly associates that horror with the American presence, and emotionally he could care less whether he lives or dies, which group do you think he's predisposed to hooking up with? If he crosses over, I'll a buy a beer for the next sniper to put a bullet between his eyes, but doesn't it suck that he made that decision? That's why I look at Iraq as 2 steps backwards in the war on terror.

I never said it was OK. I agree: it IS all wrong.

But for cripes sakes, YES, breaking the law has different levels of importance depending on which crime is being committed. That's true for the President, his staff, or ANYONE else in our country. That's why the law imposes different sentences for different crimes. i.e., Stealing a candy bar = a fine. And murder = death penalty or life in prison.

Violating national security is a bigger criminal matter than ripping people off for money. Especially for senior government officials. I don't care what Fox News tells you.

Some of you guys are so off-base with the Dem vs Rep thing it's not even funny. This is not a political issue. It is a CRIMINAL matter. Stop believing everything "the party" (whichever one is yours) tells you. Or the media for the matter, too.

Just like our President. Who doesn't care that Scooter is a convicted criminal who broke the law. He's "the decider" and makes up his own morality, regardless of whatever the law actually says. The Dems drummed up the whole Valerie Plame affair in an attempt to smear the VP's office and it's absolutely critical to recall that no wrongdoing on the part of the administration was ever proven regarding the alleged leak of her identity. Deprived of their main issue the lefties did what lefties do and turned to a blizzard of accusations of wrongdoing related to the process surrounding the earlier investigation. Libby's "crime" was that he did not precisely recall the specific chain of details and events on different occasions spread over more than a year. Had he merely refused to cooperate by answering "I don't recall" rather than attempting to cooperate by revealing as much as he knew he'd never have been convicted. Libby appears to have tried to tell the truth and is guilty of having a faulty memory. I'd wager any of us under cross-examination regarding very specific aspects of our activities over the past several years would screw up at least as many details as he did. Screw up a detail, go to jail. That's a bad message to send as it will only encourage government officials to refuse to cooperate in future investigations. Bush's real mistake here is in not issuing a complete pardon for this miscarriage of justice.

And from what I've seen coming out of Iraq, yes it is time we pulled out, because the majority of the terrorists we've been chasing have left Iraq. The majority of the violence over there right now is the same ignorant savage tribal violence they've been enacting for centuries. Sunni vs Shiite vs Kurd vs whatever - it's like Pentecostals attacking Baptists, and makes as little sense.

If they're free enough to go back to their ignorant savage tribal wars, it's time for us to go home, because that's not what we went there to do. Yes there are still Al Qaeda and other terrorists there, but they've backed off and moved enough of their people out that we can leave. Whatever they were looking for in Iraq when they were fighting us hot and heavy, they've found (WMDs), and they've left behind a smokescreen squad to cover their escape. They attack the troops as a distraction as well as the old "drive the White Devil off our land" routine, but I guarantee you the heads we're looking to cut off are back in their safehouses in France, Germany, and South America.

And going into Iraq was part of the UN Security Council Resolution from 1991. Hussein pushed his luck by amassing troops near Kuwait for over a year - the whole time we were in Ashcanistan - and after playing cat-and-mouse at the border with the U.N., he stayed put and did not withdraw his troops from the Kuwaiti border. Under the terms of the UN Security Council Resolution, time was up and Hussein forfeited his regime. That's when and why we went in.
