my two cents:
don't start shit on stage at your own show because in my opinion that is very bad musicianship. besides, fans aren't going to care who's playing what, only who kicks ass and puts on a good show.

i have to agree with Flo, John, and Tommy.
you'd do far better to ignore these guys, rock your set and evolve.
use your frustration to fuel the music.

That happened to me once at band practice at John's house. yeah, I had a blowout in the crotchal region of my Levis. I was playing his USA Dinky and the elusive, dark marsupial popped out and violated it and he hasn't really played it since. Actually I have that on CD somewhere. John was trying to gracefully tell me my balls were out..and I kept sayin'.."what?, what's the matter?"..and he kept motioning to my my groin area..and I just kept sayin' "what?". He finally just shouted "Your Balls, there umm..out"...I looked down and I'll be damned if it wasn't. Ty , John and I laughed hysterically. So I wore a towel to cover it up. I'm in someone's house, playin' their guitar, you gotta have some class.

Emmy..I actually took that "fuel" from and wrote the best song/lyrics in my life..dedicated to assholes like we are discussing on this thread. It's very pissed off..Ty was blown away by the lyrics. It's based on a LaVey ritual..a Curse / Ritual set to music. It has a Nevermore/Arch Enemy vibe to it...it's a major dickslapper!!!

I have to warm up to play the main riff..some days I can't play my own shit...anyone esle have that problem?

The saddest part is that we went thru this with them before and there was a HUGE rift between us.....well, we let it go and things had been good. We even invited them to help out with the Ride for Dime Philly benefit, even gave their "leader" an important board seat and important parts of putting it together. Now that we're less than 2 months away they're pulling this crap again. There's actually like 5 or 6 songs from our setlist that they've added including a couple Pantera tunes that are in our set for the benefit that they're telling people that they plan to do. It's rock and a hard place for us right now because if we confront them, they may fuck us for the event. We sent a "nicely" worded e-mail and are awaiting their response.

I still like Bill's original idea tho.

What's unfathomable to me, is why they would do that anyway. Why would they think it was a good idea to duplicate songs. I would personally make sure if I was sharing a bill with another band, that we didn't play any of the same songs.

As was said before, take this as a sign to do two things:
1: Dump them from your lives - no more hangin out, and they get booted off the Dime thing and they don't get to play those shows.
2: Write your own stuff and stick to it. Do a few covers to keep the crowd on the hook but otherwise get them used to hearing your originals. Phase out the covers and let the losers start covering YOUR songs, then you can nail them for copyrights.

Of course you can also be nice and run their mixer. Mute channels randomly during their set when they start to play a song from your list, but make it look like their equipment's crapping out.

Record some static and amp pops/clicks like when you tap the cable and inject it into their mixer channels so they sound like the losers they really are.

Put the guts of some old junky amp that cuts in and out into a good head and offer to let them use "your" amp. Once it heats up and starts crapping out, what are they gonna do, swap gear in the middle of a song? Trash it on stage?

Soak the mic screen in vinegar, or a dead fish, and swap it when you leave if they're coming on after you. Let the singer try to get close to the mic with rotten poon up his nose.

Get some fire extinguishers (liquid type) and when they start playing a song from your list, hose 'em.

Mayo balloons tossed from the crowd....
