Just how stupid are people?

I just heard this on the news: A guy was using a long-pole net to clean a pool. He over-reached and fell in. He COULD NOT SWIM. So he screams for help and a lady jumps in to help. She COULD NOT SWIM . She's OK. The guy spent a few minutes on the bottom. He's at the hosptial. I'm sorry, but I can't believe how stupid this sounds.

Actually that doesn't surprise me at all. I've known a family that the father was terrified of the water and wouldn't go in but he'd clean/skim the pool for his wife and kids.......nuff said?
