I just bought a beat but neat coronet for $14. Two valves are little sticky. I know I should buy valve oil. Being the cheap bastard I am, I was wondering whether a few drops of Liquid Wrench would work. Me and my neighbors can't wait for me to start practicing.:ROTF:

A cornet for 14 bucks? You bargain hunter, you. Try some 3 in 1 oil if you have it or maybe sewing machine oil.Scott

Thanks. I did the quick-fix. I'm afraid to try and take it apart. It's really stuck. It's an old Ross and I know it's not worth anything. But, the one loose button produced noise right now at the thriftstore. I'll keep hammering the keys and my neighbors will love me.:ROTF: :ROTF:I am a true ass set to this board.

I used to play the clarinet. I couldn't blow on it now. I have been smoking cigarettes for about 25 years. My dad annoyed the living and the dead when he tried to learn the trumpet. I played, or at least tried to play the clarinet until my pops got me my first KISS album in 1977. There went my hopes of getting first chair. DAMN YOU KISS...........DAMN YOU!

Well, I got the caps off both ends of the tubes. It's actually pretty clean inside. I got the keys to work well. Oh boy:ROTF: I have to practice my scale once I figure it out. Poor, poor neighbors.:ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF:I am a true ass set to this board.

I'm good at blowing into the pussy... I'd love to play the trumpet but a lot of practicing should be done... and I'm not into that... my respect to those who play all that sick ass jazz trumpet, sax, clarinet or something else... guitar is piece of cake compared to that"There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
