  • What Albums Do You Feel Best Define Our Music?

OK, to be more specific... what 'rock' albums do you think really changed and helped define the genre?

It just seems that I can't go anywhere these days without having people trying to force me to accept how awesome the fuggin Arctic Monkeys are (just for the record, I hate them)!

So I was wondering what albums you thought really changed the rock scene and will always stand as perfect examples of how this music is best utilized?

My options I think would have to be (in no particular order):

    1. Van Halen 1 - Van Halen
    2. Appetite For Destruction - Guns N Roses
    3. Hysteria - Def Leppard
    4. Back In Black - AC/DC
    5. New Jersey - Bon Jovi

I'm sure there's more but these are the first that spring to mind!

    And on the 8th day,
God kicked back with a beer,
And gave that Jackson one helluva beating!

I'm sure you can't possibly hate the Arctic Monkeys (spit) than I do!
Presumably it's an "Oop North" thing.

    Anyhoo - albums....

    Yngwie Malmsteen - Rising Force
    Metallica - Kill 'Em All
    The first Black Sabbath album
Nirvana - Nevermind (No-one said we have to like them, right?)

      Van Halen I and II
      Ozzy - Blizzard Of Ozz
Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast
Motley - Too Fast For Love
      Dio - Holy Diver
Ratt - Out Of The Cellar

I'm not gonna get into the garbage that destroyed the good stuff.

Fuck those bands. They still suck and so do all the sheep that made those no talent hacks popular...

                            Led Zeppelin -LZ 1, LZ3 and "untitled"(4)
                            Pink Floyd - Dark Side
                            The Clash - The Clash
Sex Pistols - Nevermind the Bollocks
The Damned - Damned, Damned, Damned (I think)

(Surely the first albums of most of the bands/artists 50's-70's changed Rock at least a small amount)
Unfortunately I wasn't around to see the rise of Rock or Punk and I have to put up with my peers calling Good Charlotte etc punk
