They're even better than Iced Earth...IMO.

I gotta say, either that's a joke, either they just found the best band name + album EVER.

Final Resistance is on. Maybe I'm not that unmetal after all. Amazing tune.

Oooook I got 9 CDs in France...

Iced Earth: Something Wicked Comes. Not as good as Horror Show but still enjoyable. Less accessible perhaps? I like the solos. Good stuff.

Dark Tranquility: Damage Done. WOW... That is one GOOD album. Unbelievably melodic. Different enough from Character too. I absolutely love it.

Nevermore: The Politics of Exctasy. I have Dead Heart in a Dead World and I prefer it to the new one... I haven't gotten into it for some reason, as of yet.

No Fun At All (for the Punk dudes): best of. Real good band.

UFO: Strangers in the Night: Unbelievable. Schenker's riffs often seem very simple but he's just a great player. Real good rock&roll there.

Muddy Waters: Electric Mud. I haven't listened to it yet :s weird. I'm a huge Blues fan but it always takes me a while to get into the mood.

At the Gates: Slaughter of the Sould. I was expecting something way more melodic and less heavy than that... especially on the singing. This is really not what I thought they'd sound like. But I like.

ZZTop: Tres Hombres. Ah well... just great all around that one.

Deep Purple: Machine Head... Yeah I still didn't have it...

          Thanks for the help!

Same here! I first heard it and it floored me. I was given Character first though, which is more lively, a different vibe from Damage Done. My Negation is my favorite tune on it.

But Final Resistance is just a great lesson in riffing and melody. One of those 'I wish I'd written that riff' tune to me.

I actually always feel I should diversify more... I only listen to Blues, Rock, metal, punk, Ska... All guitar related musics. I tried getting into jazz but I'm probably too young or musically inexperienced (never had a musical family member, lesson or anything...)

Thanks for the offer dude Right now I need to lay off the euros a bit and save up! Turns out my parents still haven't mentioned my birthday so it seems I won't get anything this summer, I may have bought too much crap already :s too bad for that Blackstar distortion pedal I tried today

I really like Something Wicked. And have only just picked up the rerelease of Politics of Ecstasy myself. So far it's kicking my ass, as you'd expect from Nevermore.

speaking of Machine Head, have you seen the Classic Albums episode? Some great old footage, pics & new interviews about the recording of the album. Well worth having on dvd.

I've been diversifying the collection lately too. Been on a non-metal kick for much of the last month. I've always had a bunch of jazz (mostly non-guitar stuff too) John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker, Tal Farlow, Django Reinhardt, Louis Jordan, etc. And there's always a bit of blues stuff flitting about. But between that and my metal stuff, there's not much middle ground. So I've recently bought some Stone Temple Pilots, The Cult, Cold Chisel, Army of Anyone to try to flesh out the collection with some Sunday afternoon bbq rock stuff.

But then I find some cool fusion stuff, like Ohm (with Chris Poland) and just the other day I found a s'hand copy of Doug Wimbish's Trippy Notes for Bass! There's just too much cool shit to buy

Anyone who likes metal should have some of the Sinergy cd's.

As in the band Sinergy? I have one yeah. She's a great singer, and that's an awesome band. Hard to keep up with all the guitarists though :s

Yeah I meant the band. As I understand it was basically Alexi Laiho's side project when he was dating Kim. I prefer it to his CoB stuff

Maybe - I don't really know anything about In Flames. I don't listen to that much heavy stuff these days

All three Sinergy albums are great, and Kim has an awesome voice!

Jesper from In Flames played rhythm guitar on the first CD, Beware The Heavens. And Sharlee D'Angelo (Mercyful Fate, Arch Enemy) played bass.

I'm still waiting for the fourth CD to come out, but it keeps getting pushed back.
