I listened to the riff for 25 seconds and can't understand what the problem is.. it's a very simple riff!

That's pretty funny but everyone has off days. I take it this is stuff for a new album they're working on? Sounds like the same detuned crap as St. Shit.

Everyone has one of "those" moments where you are having a tuff time with a weird riff. Old habits play into this as well cause you get used to playing a certain style of riffs and then a new one totally off the wall gets thrown in.

that's a clip from some kind of monster. the riff is cooler in that original way than it ended up on the record. I think, like OSG mentioned, the rhythm part of it just threw him off his habit of how he plays things. + I guess that camera in his face doesn't help either
the other guitarist in my band showed me a riff that had some weird timing, and I just couldn't get it right. After a while of practicing it slowly, I pulled it off the way he wanted it, and I thought "how the hell did I end up having so much problems with THAT?!"Comment
