  • Witnessed Air Show Crash in Dayton

    Horrible, made me sick.

    http://www.whiotv.com/news/13774845/detail.html

My brother in law is a manager at the Dayton Airport and he got my whole family into a chalet on the flight line for the Airshow. My four year old was having a total blast, she loved every single second. Even my two year old was having fun. A few planes that flew were the B2 bomber, F117 Blackhawk, F4 Phantom, F15, a harrier, and more. Well, the team before the Thunderbirds were the Masters of Disaster, anyone heard of them before. Remember the airshow up in Michigan last year? So, my brother in law's boss yells out, this group is crazy, they're not going to be around long because they're going to kill themselves. They fly little bulldog bi-planes. When they took off, the planes were tilted one way where the wings were almost touching the ground which scared me right away. Well, it wasn't two tricks later and the dude crashed coming out of a loop, just couldn't seem to pull up in time. When the plane hit the ground it had flames coming from it right away. It was a long two minutes at least until the fire crew arrived. It took them forever. The announcer told parents to not let their children watch and I had my four year old's head buried in my chest. We were right there, front row and could see everything. My daughter, Faith insisted we say a prayer for the pilot right then and there, and we did. But, he died on the way to the hospital in a black hawk helicopter. We were sick to our stomachs and left for the day. The pilot had a wife and two kids, very sad.

I haven't been to an air show in years. The confederate air force based near by at one time. When I was in the 4th grade I saw the Thunderbirds crash on take off.Fortunately no one was injured.
    Just one more guitar!

      Wow, that's terrible.

My dad was in the Air Force for 34 years (radar tech on fighter jets and Hercs etc) so I've seen my share of shows, but never one where an accident happened. Very sad to hear about this.

Does it seem like there's been more and more accidents lately, or is it just me?

2 Air Show crashes, the 2 News choppers that crashed into each other, a Medical chopper crashed in MS,... yeah I'd say there's more than normal.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Air show crashes are bad.... but they´re really horrible when the spectarors take the hit. Ramstein was not fun at all after the Frecce Tricolori incident.

I have not been to an airshow since, though merely because the opportunity hasn´t presented itself.

My heart goes out to the pilots who take these risks for our entertainment and most of all for the sake of our nations safety (test pilots). Bummer man. My pops is a USAF vet during the Viet Nam conflict. My boss is a retired bomber pilot (major, USAF Ret.). The owner of the farm I work on is also a retired USAF navigator on bomber aircraft. If not for the USAF I would not be rockin out right now as we speak!

                  Here's to you all!

Seafair is this coming weekend, so the Blue Angels should be in town any day. LK. Wash. has to one of the best venues to catch an air show. It piss people because they close the floating bridges for the rehersals and show, but the Angels have been here for many years and they still bitch.
Sadly one of the B.A. pilots was killed this year.

The guy who died actually survived a 3 plane crash a year ago where 2 of his buddies died. Saw the video on the news tonight. Wish I hadn't.
