Why do these people think they need to put so many of their offspring into the world? My wife likes watching their reality series on Discovery Health and they really annoy the shit of me. They just dropped number 17 and want to have more. I just dont understand it.

One possibility is it gives them a purpose in life. You'll probably find they don't really have a passion for any hobbies or anything.

Are they able to financially support them without any gov't programs?

There was a family in my town back in the '80s that had like 10 or more kids. They were very religious and couldn't use birth control, just kept popping out kids! Even one of their teenage daugthers wound up getting pregnant and had to have the baby. What a crazy family! I heard the oldest son (like a year younger than me) killed himself and his girlfriend a couple years back.

I see no problem whatsoever with this. They are a stable family and all of their kids look to being raised well. If you have the means, love and financial ability to support 17 kids more power to em..

What I do have a prolem with is people having numerous childern born in poverty or asshole parents who not qualified to be parents

I saw their show once. The parents seemed really creepy in that super religious sort of way. Almost cult-like. I hope they're not brainwashing the kids with some sort of twisted interpretation of the Bible.

If you can't remember all your kids names, you have too many kids. I think having that many kids restricts the parents personal one-on-one time with the kids which I feel is essential to a childs developement and keeps them from bringing assault weapons to schools and opening fire.
