[QUOTE=horns666;963096]Exactly..How long was Mike supposed to waite, even if the band was in positive productive posistion.

I think Mike deserves batter than this, considering he prolly put alot of things on hold (personal and buisness) for a very long time as a loyal member of VH.

No, he was punished for being the most stable person in the band..makes sense to me.:

    ############

He's being 'punished' [like not being part of an
    impending trainwreck is punishment] because
    he's pals with Sammy...

        Pals with Sammy..Good Point!

Does that mean Ed is pals with Dave?

Roth, Anthony, Wolfie....doesn't matter, nothing can approach VH's Gary Cherone era anyway.

I think Mike's thundering bass and backing vocals are as much a part of the Van Halen sound as Roth's vocals or Ed's guitar work. It is a shame...

Having said that, I would like to check them out. I went in 2004 and Ed seemed like he was on the night I saw him.

Agreed: who's going to hit Mike's high notes now???

Everyone wants to bash Ed. Come on guys, this is the tour people have been waiting for for years. So, Wolfie is on the bass. Who cares? This is real Van Halen, Eddie and Roth. Those are the two essential elements, period. Alex and Mike are expendable. Just to hear Eddie playing those songs with Roth singing them is going to be great.

                Mike
Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

I'm waiting for my money back from that horrible, embarrassing 2004 show I went to. When you drive six hours one way, and want to leave after the first song cuz Eddie could barely stand, much less play, that is not cool . Then maybe I'll invest my refund on another Van Halen show. Then again, maybe not. I'll go if they have Eddie pee in a cup for a sobriety test before each show and if they get Mike back. As much as I've been a lifelong VH fan, it's all just becoming a joke to me at this point. I'm thinking Alex is the only one who can even play anymore. What a joke. Instead of touring, wouldn't it be easier for Ed to just come out with some other signature something or other in 2008?

What about MA's backing vocals? That, to me, is an essential part of Van Halen. Has anyone hear Wolfie sing?

I could care less about MA's bass playing but I just wonder how the songs will sound without those background vocals?

How well are you going to hear the background vocals in a live show? Essential element on a record, yes. Live, not as much.

Ed and Sammy squared off in 2004. They wouldn't even look at each other during the shows. There are some radio interviews somewhere on the web. Sammy was like "Ed was fucked up and did some horseshit shows. I couldn't even tell what song he was playing". They were both all butting heads over fucking endorsements after a couple of months of touring. Mike sided with Sammy...i.e "The Other Half" and "weebol-Wabo-or-whatever". That was his non-refundable one way ticket off the island.
"We got along great. Obviously, there was tension between the brothers, basically Ed and Sammy's tequila thing, because he was never happy about that, the whole Cabo Wabo thing. And a lot of these arenas that we were playing in sold Cabo Wabo and even though that really had nothing to do with Sammy because he sells to people and then the buildings, the venues buys the stuff and Sammy doesn't sell to them. So I think Ed would get a little put off when he'd see a lot of Cabo Wabo banners up around the arenas and sometimes that would even create some tension onstage and offstage. There were nights where you know you have that after the show flight on the jet and things would sometimes be a little tense on that plane and without getting into any great detail there came a point to where we actually split it up and we traveled on two different jets; Eddie and Al would fly on one jet and Sammy and I would fly on another. This was only to keep the peace and that sucks just like anything else that even turns into a big business you know, sports or anything. A lot of times you almost lose the reason in the first place of why you got into doing it you know, making music and getting laid (laughs) and it all turns into big business. It got to the point to where I couldn't even see this thing going on much longer without either somebody blowing up on somebody or whatever. So Sammy finally said, 'I'm not doing any more dates because this is just not working.' When we first started out I was fully ready to do it because I thought we were going to go to Japan, Europe, South America, you know, do the thing that we should have done, like, big band reunites but unfortunately that wasn't going to be.

"[Ed] did not want Sammy doing any promoting of his stuff at all using the VAN HALEN name but a lot of that you don't have any control over. I came out with a hot sauce about the same time we were putting the tour together and the local radio station here in Los Angeles, KLOS, they would talk about the tour and then they would talk about my hot sauce. Well the brothers caught wind of that and they thought that I had my people, as they would say 'my people,' calling the radio station and telling them to pump my hot sauce on VAN HALEN's dime here or whatever and they finally asked me to have my people 'cease and desist,' I remember that distinctly. But I didn't have a damn thing to do with that and I have no control over what the radio station said. In fact, gee isn't this one of the benefits that you're supposed to reap from all these years of success that you can be able to go off and do something like that and promote something? They went on and they (the brothers) had their lawyers call every radio station that we were going to play at in every city and told them specifically they were not to mention Cabo Tequila or my Mad Anthony's Hot Sauce in the same sentence with VAN HALEN!"
                                -Anthony

Ed talks up the kid....Michael who? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1FG4Lg9jPI

They hacked his [Anthony's] cut of the VH stock sometime this century. Look at the 2004 promo pictures. Mike looks pissed! Plus has anyone heard him play lately [Anthony]. That dude packed it in 20 years ago...this ain't the 1984 Michael A. He's too lazy to even phone it in..he texting it in, now! From the best I can tell, Mike is working the crowd for support, but I wouldn't be suprised if he pulled out a lawsuit..technically he is still 1/4 of the band? Me, I saw his 2004 bass solos (Chicago and Champaign)..he ain't getting no support from me.

If Ed pulls it together, this could be all good. I was at the show in Chicago in 2004 when he brought his kid out. They both played 360. Ed got all excited. Maybe that will carry over and keep him focused this time around.

But let's face it. Give Ed three weeks of DLR and he's going to flip his lid. Dave is about an annoying person as you're gonna find. Hell, the city of New York gonged DLR off the radio in less than a month or so. That's New York...3/4 of NYC doesn' even speak english! That translates to 11.7 minutes in L.A. "Give me a bottle of anything and a glazed donut...to go! HEYYY this is the world famous gigilo DLR, bringing Davism to you on the FM radio...hello? Helloooo? Is this thing still on?"
