                        Actually, that's a primitive setup they used to use before the sustainer was invented. That thing mounted at the head isn't a microphone, it's a magnetic flux inductor. It senses the magnetic field of the power transformer and uses that magnetism to boost and sustain the signal picked up from the microphone mounted down below on the actual speaker cab. They work really well, and I still use one myself. It's really wierd because you can play a riff today, and it'll still be playing tommorow. Good practice tool too.
