  • Met Scott Travis last night

What a cool and down to earth dude. Bought him a few Amstel Lights and bullshat for a while. I knew he was from this area originally, and used to work at Mars Music in Va Beach until they closed (due to a guitar center opening up down the road). It was pretty crazy watching him play this tiny kit doing 90's pop rock covers. He said he wasn't really that into it. I asked him if there were any plans on a new Racer X cd, and he said that they all want to get one going, but Paul's got all his stuff going on right now. Apparently he plays in several bands in the Tidewater area, and is supposed to email me their schedule. If anyone in this area is interested, he'll be playing at a place called "Manhattan's" in Newport News tonight. Anyway, thought it was pretty cool and I'd share my story.

    Scott...Killer..

I was actually listening to Painkiller in my car today, and that Travis-guy knew how to beat the drums allready back then! I don't mean that double bass drums is all that matters, but he has some nice little touches to everything he does! Lucky you, it's always nice to meet nice musicians!

Cool! I always thought Scott was a kick ass drummer.

Scott Travis kicks ass IMO. He should be out on the road with a major band. Seen him live a couple of times, always a pleasure to watch and listen to.

            Exactly...
Isn't Judas working on a concept album/CD, is it finished?
Isn't Scott still in the band or did he get booted?
Have they (Judas) taken a break from the project or what?
Whats the word regarding this, anybody know?
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

I didn't want to bring up any bad shit, so I didn't ask him if he was still in Priest. If you check out wikipedia he's still listed as their drummer. Funny story about that. When I pointed him out, the manager came up and showed me some old ass Judas Priest CD and said Scott wasn't in the band. He was saying how he's the biggest Priest fan ever and that I was full of shit. I just told him to look it up when he got home. Damn douchebaguette.

As far as I know, Scott is still in Priest. I mean, if the dudes in Priest liked him enough to keep him around while he did Fight with Rob, I think his spot is pretty cemented...

Yes, they are making a concept album about Nostrodomis (sp?). As for taking a break? Don't know. Last I read they were done recording and it was in the mixing stage...

Didn't Dave Holland get busted with child porn or something like that???

I LOVE Scott Travis. One of the best drummers out there. Totally under rated. Alot of drummers I know don't know this guy by name. I always have to say, "The dude that drummed in Racer X", then they usually get it...

That's a cool story. It's always nice when big-shots are down to earth.

                  Even worse than that:

"Rock drummer David Holland has been convicted of trying to rape a special needs youngster."

                    Ken,
That's it. I sadly remember that...

And they said Rob was the strange one...

I saw Priest play in around '92. Everybody appeared to be there to see Annihilator who were supporting them. Annihilator just wouldn't stop playing, so the bouncers came on and literally lifted Jeff Waters off the stage!

Still, all this talk of Priest has made me go see if I can buy the "Fight" albums. I remember "nailed to the gun" being good from the video. Maybe it's just my memory's dodgy.

I remember this one. It looks like there's a King V in there too but it's hard to tell exactly because of the siezure-inducing lighting!

I think I'll go get my hands on the Fight albums Bengal. One recommendation is excuse enough for me! They're already becoming hard to get.

Cool! That video is even more epileptic-fit inducing than I remember. I don't think the low-res digitization helps.

It was the backing death-metal style vocals and the trade-off of styles in the guitar leads that made me like the track. It still sounds good.

You can get a decent still of the guitar at 2:20. Looks like a black RR.

At 2:24 and a brief shot at 2:28 it appears the "horns" are the same length, ergo, King V.
