  • any tennis players here?

so you guys give me great advice on pretty much anything... so here goes... looking for some good court shoes, i play in the texas sun on hard courts playing serve and volley tennis. i've owned nike, reebok, and adidas they were ok, but now i'm looking at new balance, k-swiss, and other brands. just wondering how they hold up compared to the shoes i've owned.

i'm flat footed, so i find nike do a good job. but they don't last very long. don't buy wilson or new balance, their material doesn't "give" like other shoes. they are to stiff.

I played tennis throughout high school and college. I pretty much wore out every shoe known to mankind. Adidas and K-Swiss held up the best, however, they were also the heaviest and hottest (all leather). I'm currently wearing a hybrid K-Swiss that I wear at work, jog in, walk in, and play the occasional tennis match with the old farts in my neighborhood. The soles seem to hold up well considering I walk/run four miles a day in them. Good ankle support too.

No, but I love to watch it and have a great deal of respect for the players.
Tennis is the most physically demanding sport I ever tried to learn.
You have to be in very very good overall shape.
However, lower body strength, stamina and speed (quickness) is essential, or you don't stand a chance.
These people/players are and have to be in excellent shape.
This is where the game lost me, I had no speed or stamina under such conditions, I wore down very fast. Those that make it look easy are in excellent shape, because physically if your not in such shape, it isn't easy.
Even racquetball is physically demanding as well.

          Shoes?
          Trial and error my friend.
Try them out untill you find the right shoes/brand.
Your feet will let you know when you find the right ones.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Funny you say they are heavy... the pair I have now are the lgihtest I've ever owned. I will agree they are hot, but make up for it with good ankle support and nice soles.

Can't help you with the shoes...just a note to brag that even though I am massive, I do surprisingly well on the court. I was on the tennis team way back in high school, and started playing regularly again about 2 years ago.

I played in high school and still goof around on occasion but have only ever worn Adidas and Nike shoes.

I just go to the store and try on every damn shoe they have and if something feels good I buy it. Often I leave empty-handed though, shoe shopping is tough

does watchin womens tennis and diggin their orgasmatic sounds when bangin balls count?

All shoes will wear out eventually so its better to go with lighter, drier, comfortable shoe. I'm a runner and Nike and Addias work best for me. I try to find them on sale at footlocker.com and sometimes can finde $150 shoes for 50% off or so

I grew up with the McEnroes, and started cranking balls when I was 3 and a half. I used to train with Patrick, John younger brother, and by the time I was 14 I never wanted to hit another tennis ball again after some serious training ,and endorsements. DK, I used to wear K-Swiss on the courts, but check out Wilson, they made some great sneakers for heavy hard court use.
I'll go look in the closet, I have about 62 pairs of smeakers, and i think there's a new pair of those estill in there with the rest-lol

I could not agree with you more.
Nike for me. The way I look at it, is that Nike has more give to it but the price to pay is like a Z-rated tire on a sports vehicle. The rubber is softer to grip the tracking surface better and take some of the bounce.
Other brands will last longer but will not give you traction.

I used to play in clay and hardcourts. Nike always gave me a great balance between the two. Adding basketball (on hardcourts as well) just sealed the deal for me.
