  • Dhl Sucks!

Bought a Mesa Express from Norman, OK... about 110 miles from Tulsa. They shipped it out early yesterday. I should get it today, right? Checked the tracking... it went to Waco regional hub. *?* Great, so it goes out of state, then comes back... I'll get the amp tomorrow, but I should have it today. Stuff I get from the same area (OKC) comes next day from UPS and FedEx... I guess DHL is 'special'. Heck, I order stuff from DALLAS and Kansas City and get it next day from UPS and FedEx!

Well, I'm comparing their services to the two others that are readily available, and yeah, I'm irritated because UPS and FedEx ship quicker.

If that's being spoiled, then I'm sorry your country sucks.

I have shipped stuff from Fort Worth to McKinney here in Texas via DHL and it did the same thing. The real pisser about things like this is when they raise rates because of fuel costs. It's not our fault they are inefficient in how they operate.

Smaller operation means fewer hubs than the big guys, so less direct routes for shorter-distance shipping. Seems like every choice out there has drawbacks in certain situations, and this is DHL's weak area. I'll keep it in mind when choosing a shipper for something close by.

For the price we pay for shipping, we can have high expectations.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Who should we pay? UPS, USPS, DHL, and Fed Ex seem to be about it.

That happened to me one time when I got a guitar from either UPS or Fed Ex, and both have a couple facilities within 15 minutes or so of me.
I checked the tracking, the package came into northern New Jersey which is about an hour away, went past my house in central Jersey, to a hub down in south Jersey about an hour or so away, then came back up to me. I couldn't figure out why they couldn't just go stop at their central Jersey location which isn't too far from me and go out for delivery quicker.

Because the packages go to the hub in trailer loads, not the bread-truck size truck that delivers to your house. No matter where the hubs were located, someone would get screwed regarding transit time.

You're best off finding out which shipper operates in such a way that's most convenient to you, then using them when possible. Of course if the other guy, the seller/shipper, works the same way, then there may be a conflict.

Best to just take a deep breath and accept the wait. They're not going to unload a semi truck to get your package to you a day sooner.
                          Ron is the MAN!!!!

Funny. I live in the heart of silicon valley, and see huge trucks of both UPS and Fedex. ...but not one DHL truck I remember seeing which was bigger than the bread-truck size you mentioned.

One of my three packages I mentioned... the same DHL truck came by to my apartment and delivered packages the previous day. but my package remained in the local dhl station far longer until it became a holiday and was delivered three days later. ...by the same guy and the same truck! DHL sucks far-more than you can imagine.
