I think Lance King is in the white metal direction. You can check out his former bands and his current projects.

Deicide's "Stench of Redemption" is incredible. Jacks Owens(cannibal corpse) and Ralph Santolla(millenium, Iced Earth) made that their best ever, including their first..hands down..IMO!!

I think he misread the thread title as Anti-christ bands. :ROTF:

Evergrey is not Christian. They have a concept album about a Christian-based cult, but that's about it.

Also, Trouble's early stuff had a Christian slant.

Thanks for the links and suggestions. I didn't realize there were so many prog/metal/HR/HM bands in the genre. I get really bored with a lot of the adult contemporary or acoustic guitar-based Christian stuff so this stuff really helps with that.

Holy Soldier. They were great back in the day (late 80's). They still tour sometimes. Jamie was a member here awhile back.

Definitely not. Check out the lyrics on the first two albums, and the concepts / lyrics on the Recreation Day and Inner Circle albums. Tom used to always respond to that question by saying that they were about as far from being christian as a band could be without being satanists or something like that.

So, what exactly do christian bands have in the lyrics? Praising god and stuff like that? Or talking only about the positives in life and not concentrating on the negatives like drugs and stuff?

You can google the band names mentioned, which may lead to individual bands websites or sites about them and check out their lyrical content.
                      Usually, they post some lyrics.

However, you also can check out this site which will get right to the point for many bands.

In this His Secret Obsession review, we’ll go through the 12 word phrase along with the whispered 🦸 Hero Instinct details brought by James Bauer.

Christian bands vary in degrees, but most are about promoting a Word based message, promoting the Gospel of Jesus.
Most Christian venues would not allow a band to play or promote their music unless it meets fairly strict criteria of being faith based in the sense that it promotes the above mentioned.

Those guys in Demon Hunter look pretty rough n tumble. In fact, the look is kinda stereotypical of non Christian metal..ya know, rather Kerry King.
Which goes to show that Christian bands use various styles, looks and approaches as well that likely originated in secular circles.

Take Head East for instance. You can hear them singing 'Christian Rock' lyrics long before it was popular or mainstream. 'City of Gold', 'Elijah' ..Jon Schlitt was lyrically singing a gospel based message in what is typically known as a secular band well before Petra.
