  • Can ANYONE actually sing in metal anymore?

Seriously... I guess its just going with the times, but what happenned to actual vocals in metal today? Everything is screaming, growling, screeching... anything but singing.

REAL good metal singers seem to be a dying breed. The new singer Carlos in Outworld is fucking amazing... but hes only one of a few. Is good vocals in metal a dying art just like the guitar gods? Or is this just another annoying phase?

Yeah, I'll get the flame for this...
Loved Pantera's playing, couldn't get past the singing.
Dio, Halford, uh, Scorpions, (Duh, brain fart), 80's and early 90's.

Well verified by live performances, great voices hold up on the road.

I can make that puke sound as easy as anything, damn I thought
couldn't sing, so I picked up guitar....maybe I missed my calling.

    Or puking....

roy khan from kamelot has a stellar voice. he delivers it live also. but i know what you mean. i am so over the whole cookie-monster thing. that is why my band has a female singer these days....but now we are considered more of a "goth" band and not a metal band, because she actually sings....depressing, really....
        GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

        and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Rob Halford can sing as good if not better then he did in the 80s, as does Bruce Dickinson (sp?). Ronnie James Dio also still seems to have a great voice. I think Ryan Shuck ,who sings in Julien-k has a very cool voice as well, but I wouldn't quite call it metal.

I agree Zeeg, but he doesent use it very much.

I was more leaning towards new bands... Ive been trying to put together a band for YEARS... I dunno, maybe I dont try hard enough, but I cant for the life of me, find anyone around here that wants to play GOOD metal, not cookie monster shit. Thats all it is around here, cookie monster or emo... and Im starting to dislike cookie monster almost just as much as emo. Every tough guy around here with a shaved head and a bunch of tats (no offense to you bald tattooed guys ) thinks hes a death metal singer... Ive got news for these guys... its NOT HARD TO DO. Youre NOT special. Stop calling yourself singers.

Gee, thanks for that (wank, wank)...that hair would do well with an 80's frizz job... and a very small leather top? Yup...you're in business!

                        Just kidding!

She's got enough leather around her wiast!

that fireball group with gus g. dragon force's singer is really cool, sully erna from godsmack. but i totally agree with you rob, "no one" knows how to sing anymore.
"slappy, slappy" bill sings, happily, as he dick slaps random people on the streets of Cleveland.

Have you not listened to a lot of Pantera? Phil has a great voice and can sing melodically when he wants to.
