M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold. Gay name, good voice.
Bullet for my Valentine and Funeral for a Friend also have quite a lot of good singing.

You know, I think what we're seeing is more to do with what music the kids are listening to these days. None of them try to sing properly, because all the crap they listen to is screaming and grunting. The younger generation needs to discover Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Dio, Journey, Queen, or basically anything with good vocals. It's not that there aren't any decent singers around, it's just that they aren't as "popular" with the kids.
A few more come to mind. David Draimen from Disturbed is a great singer. Maynard from Tool. Even Serge and Daron from S.O.A.D. are pretty good singers when they try. Sure maybe not real technical singers like Halford, but it's all about the melody.
I hate to admit it, but that band that Jared Leto is in do a song called The Kill, and I think it has great vocals. It's really catchy, if a little whiny. 30 Seconds to Mars, that's it.
Check it.
P.S. Plus, he looks sooooo dreamy with that eyeliner on.Last edited by zeegler; 08-21-2007, 06:03 AM.

+1 on Killswitch Engage when he does the clean vocals
-1 on Roy Khan, I hate his voice so much..
I live the music from Firewind, but the vocals kill it for me..
The guy from Rhapsody can sing pretty good

Oh, absolutely...but when it goes "crunch time", that's when it falls apart.
It's not a matter of ability there, it's a problem of chosen style.
I may wind up liking it tens years from now.

Rob are yoiu looking for a singer for yourself..because that is so rare..
Or do you just looking the the highest calibre vocals ever old and new..because shit like SWE engage or Into Eternity wouldn't even come close to what you want..now I love IE..and my son talked to the rythm player for 20 minutes..those two just hit it off..taking about their favorite players..that dude was havin' a ball talking with him..and they talking alone too..I was with some freinds and they just kept goin' at it..my kid ..he's like me..he likes to gab about the metal..he was going off about his drummer too..my kid was there biggest fan..he'll they gave him a T shirt and everything.
So Rob..I will not fail you..My main goal and purpose here on this board is never to fail a fellow broham on this search for quality metal to his liking!
This I vow.
Juts give me three of your favorite singers and bands..I know you said you loved Outworld..is that correct..do you really LOVE them..or just really like them..because I want to hit the nails on the head while I investigate silmiliar bands for you!

I cant find ANYONE locally that can cut it... Bill, I heard your Bed Of Nails demo a while ago and LOVE the vocals... but thats what Im talking about, I cant find that around here. Trust me, Ive been trying, but I just dont know where to look any more.
Ive heard so many bands who are amazing musically... and then the singer comes in and totally ruins it.

So a few of us will provide them with a bunch of current bands that should satisfy their criteria, but they don't want to hear it anyway. Facts just get in the way of their rant.
Before we looked at a cover of a record because we liked the artwork, bought it and hoped for the best..that was it G...remeber that shit!!
There is no risk anymore..you can sample everything before you buy it these days..even tho that's good a good thing..it's kind of takes that element of surprise away doesn't it..just a little..I think so.
"Here are some good bands with "proper" singing. I've even provided links so you can sample their tunes on MySpace!"
"no thanks. That would require that I click on a link & press play on a webpage. Plus it would divert me from my true focus. Which is to whine about the state of music today. Why aren't there any good singers like the good old days? Guys like Bret Michaels, Stephen Pearcy & all those other jumping-off-the-drum-riser, scissor-kicking DLR wannabes"Last edited by VitaminG; 08-21-2007, 01:06 AM.

we were pissed when it sucked and happy as if we struck gold if we discovered a brand new metal band!!!
