Does anybody run V-Bulletin? I have access to a few domain names and I thought it might be fun to throw something up on my server.

It looks pretty simple just buy and install...and bam you have a forum?

Yup, I use phpbb for the three forums I run and it works great! Plus they have lots of add-ons you can install. The add ons are a bit complicated to install, but after you have done a couple of them you can understand how it works.

I like it, and the price is right!

I've had no problems with phpbb the times I've had to install and configure it on Linux, I've not had any experience of it on Windows platforms. Which OS does your server run, do you have all the prerequisites installed? What's the root/administrator password?

It would go on a box with Windows Sever 2000. I was thinking about grabbing something new but I'm trying to keep it simple and I've never used Linux. I would just need something for a forum and for storing massive amounts of porn..that's all.

While I understand JCFOnline.net was available I just don't understand why someone needs to use our name ...

Its reasons like this why, when I register a domain name, I get the .com, .org AND .net. You KNOW someones gonna come along and try to piggy back off of you if ya dont, its only a matter of time. Its ok though, no other board will ever replace this place... atleast not for me.

There's no need to speculate... My brother grabbed quite a few of these 'pseudo-names' years ago. They've been siting around...doing nothing for years. You didn't even know until now... Are we the firs people that came up with this idea?

My opinion...why not funnel traffic from other sites. It's fair and it's American as apple pie, depleted uranium armour & beng one-step-ahead.

You could treat it as a threat but that's certainly not the intent. Regardless, if I wanted to 'dick' around with anyone...you can be damn well sure it would be the Les Paul Forum! Too many forums are just sales tools or full of one dimensional thugs:ROTF:

Geez Jeff I see the rolling on the floor guy but your post reads like a fuck you manifest. I'm a bit dissapointed in the the "I can do whatever I want" attitude. I hadn't realized we pissed you off enough to do that. The bottom line is this..

If you wanted your own forum why not be original? Why steal our name?

At any rate it's pretty uncool to steal our name and then advertise it on our forum. Isn't it?
