I almost watched a whole game with the Mariners V Yanks. Game on today at 4:05 PDT and I may watch it. I don't like baseball. But for the Mars to end a 9 game losing streak in NY could get interesting.
2 games with no net change- Detroit still in it. Big game tonight. Will do alot for Seattle flying out of town. Detroit- in it. Toronto- Life support, but in it.
Look at the national league- San Diego & Arizona tied for the wildcard, and 3 more teams within 4 games. Now that's going to be a shootout!
Go Yanks is right! Even with 3 games against the Red Sox left, the division is over. M's have lost 10 of 11 and have a tough schedule the rest of the way. It's there for the Yankees to take if they can just get someone other than Wang or Pettite to throw consistently. Hughes goes tonight...we shall see!
On another note, I'm not sure if winning the wild card is really great for the Yankees. They would end up playing the Angels and can never beat them.
Its amazing as an Angels fan that I don't have to pay that much attention to the end of the season wondering if they'll make the playoffs this year. Feels really good to be in 1st place. Now I see why there are so many NY/Boston fans.
Lol...what a game last night. Hughes pitched really well, but Seattle had them until ARod. Yankees have a tough 9-game stretch here on the road. Should be fun to watch the last three weeks!
The Angel bullshit ends this year, mark my words. Ian Kennedy, Hughes, Wang,Joba the heat, we've got unreal pitching arms for the future. The lineup can kinda explode at times as well I'd say-lol That was great to see last night. Our only chance of not getting the wild card is the headache Tigers who have a much rougher shedule than the Yankees. The stripes schedule is a cakewalk compared to the Tiger and Mariners. Well, the division race is over huh? I remember the world series being painted on the grass a little early as well. Until I see an "X" for clinched division, it's on.
Heh, well, I wouldn't say its over, but it is nice to be leading with a fair buffer zone. I've got pretty sick of wild card chasing these last few years, although it beats being nowhere near.
With a 5 game difference and the yanks visiting Fenway this week I would hardly count them out of the division ..You have to admit they have been red hot
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes!~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~
Yanks got the wild card IMO. If things stay the way they are now they
face the Angels. Season over. Red Sox magic number is 13 with the Yanks
coming in this weekend. If the Sox beat Tampa Bay tonight and take 2 of 3 this weekend it's lights out for the division. The Red Sox would get the
Indians. Sabathia and Carmona are scary in a short series, but the Sox have outstanding depth in the rotation and the best bullpen in the
league. The Angels have the Yank's number but can't beat the Sox for
anything. Yup,the next few games are big,but if they can take care of
business right here, the door is wide open for the Sox all the way through
the end of October.
I think the yankees can handle the Sox pitching , and vice versa, and can handle cleveland, but will, and i guarantee end the Angels knocking us out of the playioffs this year if we can hold on to the wild card spot. Detroit, although hit with injuries, is not out by any means.
