Great moments from the movies

I can think of a bunch, and I'm a big sucker for bravery & self-sacrifice: the dude who stays behind for his buddies, for the greater good, to give the others time to get away, etc. Like in Aliens when Vasquez & Lt Gorman are in the air duct and they know aliens are approaching from either side, they realise have no chance to escape & decide that if they're going to go, they'll take as many aliens out with them. Or the mortally wounded Dyson holding the detonator in T2 to give everyone a chance to get clear before the Cyberdine lab is blown up. Obi-Wan in Star Wars. Even Vader in Return of the Jedi.

But a recent one that springs to mind is the scene in Flags of Our Fathers when all the guys are in the field calling for their missing buddy. We see the inside of the door of a Japanese bunker open as the American soldiers enter. We don't get to see what they see as they come through the door, but they stop calling for their buddy & back out of the room.

I remember watching that scene when I was like 7 years old and my brother said hsi reaction had been the same as mine "This is universe changing"

Every scene from the Christmas Story was a classic. Unicron eating Lithone in Transformers the Movie was pretty badass too.

Optimus Prime pwning every Decepticon standing in his way in Autobot City was pretty cool too

Actually, another crazy moment from that movie is when Megatron blows Ironhide to hell. Now that was mind blowing.

Hannibal... At the end of the movie, when Hannibal Lecter makes Ray Liotta eat a piece of his own brain. Then when Hannibal is on the plane and let's the little kid sitting next to him eat a piece of the brain.

One that has always stuck with me was the ending of Gallipoli (sp?). It's one of Mel Gibson's early movies, him and his buddies are Aussie soldiers fighting the Turks in WWI. This one officer, on bad information, keeps sending troops over the top (trench warfare) to attack the Turks. Well everyone is getting mowed down. So Mel is a "runner" between the command post and the units and he runs down to the CP to tell the General and hopefully stop the officer from sending more troops over. Well, the General sees the futility of it and orders a stop. So Mel is running back and you think, "he'll get there just in time like they always do in Hollywood". But he doesn't! The whistle blows, and the rest of the men (including Mel's best friend) go 'over the top' and get blown away. I saw it about 15 years ago and I still think of it.

The end of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Won't spoil it for anyone that has missed out on this great flick, but what happens with McMurphy and the Chief is quite memorable. For a recent movie (and surprisingly another Nicholson movie), The Departed definitely had it's "holy shit" moments.

The end of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Won't spoil it for anyone that has missed out on this great flick, but what happens with McMurphy and the Chief is quite memorable. For a recent movie (and surprisingly another Nicholson movie), The Departed definitely had it's "holy shit" moments.

Me and my wife were like WTF? Something you don't expect in Hollyood movies(yes I kmow it is a remake of an Asian flick).

Three of my favorite movies.

Glory- When they ask for the honor to lead the assault, knowing damn well they are going to die, and the send off they get.

Shawshank Redemption- When Red gives his voice over at the end of the film, and you see him reunited with Andy on the beach

Dances with Wolves- Again the ending when Wind In His Hair is on tp of the hill yelling "I will always be your friend".

Those three scenes always makeme . These are my guy/chick flicks.

I always just loved comedy and horror..I never liked , thriller, action, drama, sci-fi films ect..I never like blow-em and shoot-em ups for some reason..not even James Bond. My dad loves that shit. Alot of old movies are cool..I think.

Speaking of great moments in cinema...I love "They Live" with Rowdy Rodey Piper...."I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and Im almost out of bubble gum"

Schindlers List has sooo many of them.

When the jewish workforce that he saved made a gold ring for Oscar Schindler out of their own fucken teeth. That movie had so many choking moments.

Seeing the girl in the red jacket (One of the only things that had color in the movie) walking in the street and seeing that same red jacket in a pile of bodies.

The unedited version shows people who survived and worked for Oscar showing their respect by placing rocks on his grave. The people who acted thier parts stood side by side with the real people as this went on.


The Pianist has a a whole slew of them also. Brody did a excellent job in this movie and I would recommend it to anyone. I can handle a lot of shit, but when it comes to stuff like this, it fucks me up everytime.

The end of "Invasion of the body snatchers" (1978 remake) is psychological horror at its purest and rawest form.

"The ring" when the ghost little girl crawls out of the TV.

Aliens - best sci-fi horror in history - when Bishop gets ripped in half by the alien queen.

Sixth sense, the village, and pretty much any movie by that director (M. Night-Shamanwhatever) are just brilliant.

28 days later - entire movie.

His movies are usually good, but I thought The Village was one of the worst piece of shit movies ever. I bought it at Blockbuster when it came out, because there were none left to rent. That'll teach me to buy something without seeing it first.
