the high end luxury market has really slowed. 2 years ago the demand for boutique guitars was on fire: every company was pumping out as many mega-flametop, gold hardware, exotic wood, limited edition guitars and people were snapping them up. The trouble Anderson guitars is having is a sign of how it has changed. At the local store the guy told me the PRS demand has slowed over the past year, before that if it had a 10 top it was gone in a flash.
Any demand spike will level off, it could be as simple as that. I think over the last 3-5 years in particular, the internet really fired up peoples lust for stuff, this big new playground for new and used gear. It boosted collecting also, boosted the vintage market, the custom market. A constant barrage of guitar porn, people surfing themselves silly looking at and for gear. we all know that situation. After a period of time I guess it all gets old. I think thats part of it.

I agree 100% percent with this statement. On top of the gas prices going through the roof and home values dropping, things like guitars and other 'non-essential' expenditures go by the wayside. And I think the buyers out there know this and they're willing to low-ball on everything because someone will be desperate enough to unload a great piece of gear for cheap because they need the quick cash.
