  • Our gig last night w/pics

My band SuperNote played as the first act in a three band lineup at Club Tops in Yokohama last night.

As it was a Sunday, the show started early. Doors at 17:30, on stage at 18:00. There were about 20 people in the joint when we started playing. I would rather have 20 people show up to a 50 person capacity club than have 100 people show up at a 2000 person capacity club

I played my DK2M through a Marshall JCM2000, with a Zoom GFX-5 (which I only used for delay and wah) in the effects loop, and adjusted the amount of gain using the volume knob on the guitar. My tone was killer through the monitors, but after we got off stage, the people in the audience said that the sound was muddy through the house PA, so it was hard to distinguish between the bass and guitar. Thanks, PA guy

    Anyway, here are some pics.

We are a 3 piece band:

As an aside, the T-shirt that I'm wearing is an illustrated guide to what you can get fined for in Singapore, which I received as a gift from a friend who traveled there. My personal favorite:

A good time was had by all

They are called jika tabi. Favored by Ninjas and people who work in scaffolding. The soles on my boots are too thick for me to get a sense of how much "wah" I'm stepping on, so I wore the tabi's instead.

        Fixed it in the edit

        Thanks Berkay!

SuperNote had 3 CD's out already when I joined last year, so the songs that we played at this gig were mostly their older material.

People say that our music has an early Radiohead vibe to it. Of course, we rock a little harder now that I'm in the band

We also played "Paranoid" by Sabbath as an encore

That's great! Rocking harder is always better

So is there any place we can check the old material?

I like your jika tabis btw

I can't get my eyes off those jika tabi. There's something very Ninja Turtle'ish about them

Time to get a wireless system for your guitar. During soundcheck, you can then walk to the mixer, listen and set him straight. Of course, any skilled sound engineer would hate that.

Looks like a cool show. You look good with the DK2M!

Here's a link to a sample of one of the tunes off the third CD (that's not me playing on the track through):

Either that or a really long cord... And if the PA guy was "skilled", he wouldn't have muddied up the sound

You are a band on stage. And that is all that needs to be said.

Hi. Ron. Another inane diversion. I want to see you in person. Just leave me out of other people's day in the sun.

Are there other god-like vikings in your area that you could form a band with?
