  • Anyone use the TV parent filter?

I just saw that "Dirty Jobs" is rated "TV14" for "L". I wish that every kid could see this. I pity the parents that try and filter life.
I am a true ass set to this board.

I have never tried any of the v chips in my televisions. Now you got me interested in setting them up just to annoy everyone in my house.

No one will see any content harder than Dora the Explorer now.
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!

Direct TV has "Channel lists" So there's A, B, C, and Family. So I set up Familay as like "All" (We don't do premium/movie channels), SW is A, with LMN,
Lifeteime, Oh!, and the chick stuff, mine has all the discovery/espn/news/speed channels, and the boys have only about 10 channels, all of it in the Science/Nasa/Discovery vein. But they set up their "C", and it's usually ok. I have to keep an eye out for G4, though, it gets pretty racy sometimes. No need for a V chip.

That's funny because I was going set mine last night.. I was channel surfing and came across Real Sex on HBO... (I don't watch much T.V.).. Even though we are open with our kids about sex.. I feel that it's something that the my 7yr and 11yr boys should not be watching..

Maybe when their balls drop and they need some spanking material I will unlock it.

I let them watch a lot of stuff thats edgy and racy...

Our little guy is only 4 months old, but I wonder what we'll be able to do by the time he's in grade school. We have a local station that airs Southpark and Reno 911 starting a 7PM, the web is overrun with porn, etc. We'll do our best, but how many parents of his classmates will? My nephew is a first grader, and even though my sister tries hard, he's been exposed to shit that most people my age didn't come across until middle school or even high school, thanks to the kids of the lazy dirtbags in her neighborhood. My wife picked him up from his friend's house a couple weeks ago (2nd grader), and they were playing Grand Theft Auto on the X-box. WTF?

We kept it away from them well until 1st grade, but answered questions honestly (Where do babies come from? "Hospitals-go ask your Mother")
But they had heard enough about the world from us that they have a fairly good foundation when others seem to be getting away with everything.
It probably helps that we never had them in daycare or preschool, and Mamma stays home, and volunteers at the school.

Test Drive 5 is a PS1 game is it not? I LOVED the Demo version, but never bought the game

I use the filter on my Comcast cause my son is 8 years old but I limit the screening to things involving Nudity Extreme language/Violence. You can't learn much from living in a fish bowl Just don't want to bombard the child at such a young age, is all.

+1, when they ask, wige or I give them an answer they can chew on, but we don't force the issues.

Both GTA and Test Drive 5 are multi platform. PC and PSP are what we have.
We don't own GTA. Need For Speed is ok, police chases but not the car theft, carjacking mentality.

I rarely ever watch tv because i find it boring, annoying, pointless, and it dulls the mind. Every time i'm in a house with a TV on i just want to lower the volume to zero or better yet turn it off.

Sometimes i watch stuff on DVD, but 99% of junk that's broadcasted just gets on my nerves. + i couldn't be bothered to follow a schedule just to watch every episode of some program....
