Me, being a toad, it was listening to my strereo really loud with headphones. I would listen to it so loud my ears would ring. I have lost about 30% of the hearing in my right ear. It's so bad that if I don't want to hear birds sing while lying in bed, I just turn my head to the left on the pillow. The difference is dramatic. And sometimes, it's not a bad thing. I'm 57 and have heard the noise, as in really loud, at concerts and such. I am the "Ghost of Hearing Loss Future. "

I' have a hearing loss since I was 13.... it's because of rock'n'roll"There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
"To be stupid, selfish and have good health are three requirements for happiness, though if stupidity is lacking, all is lost" - Gustave Flaubert

Hey, with my wife's voice, it's kind of a blessing!!!"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"

With my ears, it's just a matter of which ear. If I want to hear the shrill, it's the left. If not, it's the right. Moral of the story: "Never listen to someone face to face.":ROTF: When I was with my son and I was driving he was on my right. I could not make out what he was saying. His voice was just right to make me say; " I can't hear you. It's my fault. But speak up. God damn it!!!!". He still got pissed off. And that was 10 years ago.Last edited by fett; 10-09-2007, 03:01 PM.I am a true ass set to this board.

Yep. It's the highs that are gone in my right ear. I like old watches that actually go tic-tok. I can not here a running watch in my right ear or the birds sing. It's like having a constant cottonball in my ear.I am a true ass set to this board.

When I worked on my house, I always plugged my ears. I used wadded TP. My hearing was already fucked up. The last thing I needed was singing electric saws and the bang of hammers without dampening. I have been there. Save your ears.I am a true ass set to this board.

"I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!". This is serious. Just wait until you have to have people repeat themselves. Will that be you? But, maybe, that will be the wave of the future. Ear-puds, loud music and speech may be falling on deaf ears.Last edited by fett; 10-09-2007, 03:55 PM.I am a true ass set to this board.

Yep, hearing loss here. I attribute it to loud music with headphones. I'm not sure of the % of each ear, but I am always asking people to repeat themselves to me. My immediate family compensate by speaking louder when they are talking to me. My left ear is really bad, so for a good night sleep, I will sleep on my right side.MakeAJazzNoiseHere: You kidding me? Tinnitus (sp?) in my left ear, mostly high frequency loss.
+1 to the crowded room comment. In a crowded bar - or with any significant background noise, like running water, etc - I can hear everything, but have a hard time distinguishing between the conversation with the person in front of me and the other noise.

My ringing is only in my bad right ear. You young pups, listen to me if you can hear me. I, who have gone overboard with loud noise, have lived this and it is no fun. You can have the greatest stereo system in the world. But, if your hearing is shot what difference does it make?Last edited by fett; 10-09-2007, 04:18 PM.I am a true ass set to this board.
