I even shipped my old Mesa F-30 combo in a big computer box and paid less than $60 from the local UPS Store (they seem to be a little more than the Staples or regular UPS center).

Is this the Brian Moore guitar I just bought from you, Robert? I feel bad now if you paid that much for shipping on it.

I made the mistake of showing up at a Fedex Kinkos without a box for my King V. I had to use a massive box (a bit cheaper than a custom box), and got my ass rocked for over $100 total. It had to be shipped that morning, so they had me over a barrel.

If it's a nice guitar, spare no expense and do fed ex P1, or at least standard overnight, the less time in those people's hands the better, just step up , bend over and take it in the ass with your pants on and get it in one piece , it's your best shot at not having any damage to the guitar and totally worth it.

I live in Louisiana. I've shipped to Florida, S. Carolina, Rhode Island, California, Oklahoma, Washington, Vancouver, Georgia, and Illinois. I've used FedEx, UPS, and USPS. I don't think I've ever had a shippin option under $42.

Like Tommy, for the majority of the guitars I ship, it's either overnight or 2 day air. Paying more provides a little peace of mind and I know that the recipient appreciates getting a guitar in one piece, hassle free.

Definitely do not use mailboxes, etc. or any independant stores, they cost more! It helps if you have your own box and pack it, I can't believe they only charged $16 for a box and packing, then $86 to ship. I think they pulled one over on you. If I get paid through paypal, I just print a label through them and it's usually $35-$40 for a guitar w/case.

costs to ship. The shippers have figured out a great scam imo..
the cardboard box is "Weighted" and able to transport up to 60 lbs .
So when your guitar and case is 21 lbs...doesnt matter! Your paying
for 60. Cost to ship a 21 lb guitar across the country UPS ground?
Insured... $106.00 frikin $'s!! Why they dont have a 30-lb box is of
course so that they can overcharge everytime. Sorry for the rant..
but this is nuts! Dont believe it when someone tells you that guitar
can be shipped for $30. Most will be $65 depending on how far across
the country. And USPS (post office) wont take anything over 4ft anyway. Thanks for the vent... im stunned!
I just recently shipped a guitar in a case to California and im in the south. It cost $45 for priority with ins and delivery confirmation thru the USPS. A guitar can be shipped thru USPS its not too big.
