Looks like ol' Spock still has a bit of Sylar in him...

Now there's a real Vulcan neck pinch!

And they've brought back the miniskirt 'n' boots for the female crew

I want to see it but I have no strong feelings about the original series. Now my buddy that is a diehard Trek fan is different. He wants to see it but the movie will have a tough time winning him over.

Does that opening sequence remind anyone of a certain Rush song?

Should be as good as anything else out there.
I won't be hard to win over... basically starving for good entertainment here lately.

The producer has admitted he's not a fan of the original series. To an old school Trekkie like myself, that is NOT A GOOD SIGN. Cautiously optimistic...

He just has to do a his job as a producer.

Ralph Feinnes wasn't familiar with Harry Potter, nor was he a Harry Potter fan, but he sure does an excellent job as Voldemort!

Point is that a fanboy isn't necessarily the best choice for the job. It might help, but in the end the best one suited for the job is chosen.

After viewing the newest trailer, I'm looking forward to it even more!

I'm not a fan of franchises that are resurrected only to be killed off and remembered as utter shit. Terminator, Aliens (AVP), Hellraiser, Highlander, Star Wars and Rocky. Some directors are not familiar with the phrase "don't fix it if it isn't broken". This one will be no different.

franchises churning out the same ole stuff for the fans that worship it is not meant to break new ground or gain new fans.
if the fanbase is large enough and people want it, they will pay money and thats all the makers are interested in.

They need to keep making TNG movies. That will always be the best Trek series. The original series is way too cheesy with Shatner always making out with green women and getting into fistfights.

But that's also what made it awesome. In TNG, that became Commander Ryker's job. Someone has to do it.

                                Very true indeed.
This applies and is true about nearly everything consumer and entertainment based.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.
