  • USA made hype WTF?

what the hell is the big hype about where a guitar is made? usa/japan, etc............ i played them both and really don't see much of a difference in sound, etc... but you pay 10 times more for the usa models.
I know that this thread is going to stir up trouble but i don't buy american guitars because i think the prices are crazy! i'm not cheap or broke but i don't see paying 10 times more for somthing that sounds the same as something that is made in japan. the only good thing about usa guitars is resale value which i don't give two shits about because i don't plan on selling any of my guitars. and please save me the i hate america speech's because i served and would die for this country but we all need to realize something, NOTHING IS MADE IN AMERICA anymore.

That is a riduculous statement. Hell, just in this over-regulated part of a state not known for being good to manufacturing companies, there are still thousands of small manufacturers, just read this recent LA Times article:

          STANDING UP TO CHINA
They can't compete on price, so Southland companies are pushing specialty items, service and fast delivery.

i agree 100% . we need to stand up against every country taking jobs away from us because they pay their workers $.50 an hour but until they do something about it i'm going to continue to buy imports for prcaticallity.

Carvin and Warmoth make American guitars at reasonable prices. I'm putting together a strat with exotic woods, stainless frets, a fully scallopped fretboard, etc. for under $1000

If you are talking about Jackson/Charvels what is "Nothing" suppose to mean?

Every body that I sell is hand made by me. And yes I live in the USA.

Have another beer and go to sleep. Not sure what you are ranting about but maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

I don't buy any guitars not made in the USA. I especially don't buy instruments from Asia. The main reason being is that the electronics in non-USA guitars are substandard. (substandard IMO as having worked on a large number of guitars and have gutted them to install USA components) The workmanship overall may be of better quality overseas often times, but the materials, wood, hardware etc. are not of the quality obtained in the US. Wood sources in the USA are far superior to many locations and especially Asian locations. They have to go to the expense of importing the wood from the USA and that negates the profit margin. I'll pay the outragous US expense of getting an excellent instrument.

I collect the Jap C/Js. I build my own guitars for myself out of USA parts and woods.
                      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

I've got tons of Jap guitars and they're all great, but I must say for a non-Strat guy I just got 2 American Strats and I love them !!! Excellent build and quality !!! But I've also heard that the Jap Fender Strats are better.

I am 100% made in the USA kind of guy. I own 4 instruments, all made in America. My Mesa Dual Recto, America. I realize it all can't be. But it is just the pride that I'm support people here in the United States. Whatever their orientation: "Well a bunch of mexicans made it anyway.." man if they are here legally fuck'n A' and make me a fiddle!

I'm not trying to make it political on the border jumping shit; I'm just saying:

Great point, the 3 of the last 4 guitars I bought are Carvins. And any strat style guitars I've owned have been at least in part Warmoths. High quality, reasonable price and to a certain extent Custom. I agree that Jackson has pretty much priced beyond what I'm willing to pay. But I feel that unlike many things out there USA guitars on the whole are definitely superior to their imported counterparts.

I don't see what the rant is about. Everything is built to a cost. If you want the best woods, hardware and craftmanship, a USA Jackson is the way to go. You get what you pay for (with the exception of the UK where you pay a huge tax on top). Still, if USA J/C's are too expensive, then start hunting on ebay which is what I do. I've yet to win something but I'm making an effort.
