Yep, and they are real solid too! They really help out with the superfast speeds of my magnet cars!

I can get some serious speed on the opposite banked turn!

I have to take new picks. I have a new 17" LCD monitor for scoring now

View from above the Goodyear blimp!

If I recall, the best cars back in the day were the G+ cars. They had serious motors and magnets in them. You could almost run flat out on a flat track!

Yep, they still make them and are the best bang for the buck out of the box. New technology has developed the super magnet cars with the cobalt motors which are about 2000 mph in 1/64 scale. These can run the bill up to $200 or so, but the G+ you can have for $25-35 and have some fun. They have taken some fun out of racing with the magnet, so the G-Jets have come out. But, for fun and consistency you can't beat a Tomy AFX G+ car.

HOLY SHIT Bengal that is awesome. did you buy that stuff, or make it, the accessories? damn do kids shit themselves when they see that , if you have any. i know my son damn near crapped himself when i first got his 13' starter track. do they even make the 4 lane stuff anymore, i havent seen any the little time ive been looking into this stuff.

all i have is the AFX TOMY quik clik track, i did get a nice loop, shikane (ron i cant spell), a couple of X & sqeeze sections. i may have get a few of the banked turns now after seeing that. I have the 2 AFX SRT cars that came with the starter kit, 1 tomy turbo, & a tyco 440X2 on the way from evilbay.

whats a good power pack. i think alot of my sons crashing, is do to the inconsistency in speed in different sections of the track. it pretty noticeable, hes good at holding the trigger in one place & not nailed wide open. i notice it too, but i dont get mad when i fly off the track....lol..... do better controllers effect that at all?
the G+ cars any other recommendations? like i said i wouldnt mind even a slower car, that handles better.

I built all the structures myself from photo's. The pit building is modeled after Nuremberg Raceway in Germany. It's made from Styrene building panel stock from the railroad hobby. The only thing that I added not built by myself was some bleachers (AFX Aurora) and the pit guy's which are Mattel and used to come with the 440 cars. 1/64 scale (which is mostly what I race) trucks, ambulances, tractors, bulldozers, fuel trucks and 18 wheelers, I added as props. The scenery material is Woodland Scenics (I think that's the name). Anyway, the stuff is the railroader's ultimate scenery building material.

This site will answer most of your questions. He also sells cars and parts. His prices are very reasonable as well. He does this as a hobby, so it's a part time business. Lots of info on tracks and layouts. All my track is glued and the contact rails are all soldered. I raced the layout for a month before I decided to make it permanent. Oh yeah, kids freak out and forget about their video games for a long time

For power I'm using 2 Astron 25 amp power supplies now, 1 for each 2 lanes.

Check this out. A wealth of information. http://www.hoslotcarracing.com/

I built the layout as if it were located in or around Sedona, AZ complete with cactus native of the area. The dirt and sand came from Sedona, AZ

I can't believe you guys made me GAS for slot cars... :|

On another hand while this is a cool hobby, I decided I was going to indulge in something I always wanted to try, RC planes and choppers. I'm guessing there also is a quite a bit of tuning and tweaking available in these areas and that's what I'm interested in the most basically.

                    Cool thread!

When I moved up here to be with my stepson and his family, I had all these plans. I have nitro gas cars; vintage Tamiya; slot cars up the ass; and all kinds of other cool things I thought would be fun for the kids. It's a damn good thing I have always loved toys because those kids don't give a fuck.

The older we get the more we like the toys we wished we have when we were younger eh?

I've been on that site for an hour just browsing around... real cool stuff! I wish I had the room to do something real cool like this. I also have A LOT Of HO train set accessories somewhere. Think about it... in an attic, a mixed train and slot car set Muahaha the trains take you to the car races. Damn. It sucks being 21... too young to do anything this expensive, too old to waste time on it...

                              Pott,

Glad you liked the site. I went pretty much all out on my setup, but I'm getting older these days, so I need to do everything

                              Fett,

Those guy's at Scale Auto are in your neck of the woods. They are in Redmond. They are the old school guy's from Southern California that moved up to your location, like yourself. I don't know if they have a store front per say, but I know they are big distributors and developed and manufacture the BSRT G+ cars. I heard the racing action is pretty busy up your way.

I just did some research, we don't get the Tomy stuff here in the UK. The biggest brand is Scalextric.
