Let's not forget the Brits had a lot to do with the situation between the Jews and Arabs. They promised the land being fought over to the Jews at the end of the war and then turned right around and gave it to the Arabs.Lawrence of Arabia was a real person and the movie is actually fairly accurate and factual. At the end even Lawrence felt betrayed by his own govt.
If I remember correctly the U.S. had to train and educate the Arabs and drill all the oil wells. It took many years for them to learn how to operate them by themselves and learn the technology involved. Then they stuck it to us.
just sayin none of us are truly innocent.

so could buying an electric car, then all I have to worry about is where, when and how often I have to plug it in.
Anyone seen electric racestrip conversions? Instant full rip your face off torque to drivetrain power on tap. Were talkin like 0-60 in 3 seconds and even faster in a motorcycle. Not to mention commercialized hybrids of motorcycles-crazy economical.

Our electricity comes from burning coal. nat. gas and oil primarily.

Buying an electric car just means you bought a less practical means of transportation that exploits fossil fuels indirectly. They have a shorter range and greater weight, most of which is a load of really nasty chemicals . These chemicals are easy to make explode and very difficult to put out once ignited. They are also really difficult to dispose of when they wear out and are truly a toxic waste. Electric cars and hybrids are nothing more than an expression of the car companies exploiting peoples' desire to imagine they are more environmentally conscious than their neighbors. Without that motivation there would be no reason to buy a more dangerous and less practical means of transportation.

Brazil is going to need to use that oil themselves to modernize and improve quality of life for its citizens so they don't all want to move here to live better.

This could really change everything if it pans out

I think Brazil has an extremely high AIDS rate among the women.
We should take over Brazil, send all the infected women to the middle east and force them to fuck all the towel-heds - let them kill off the taliban for us.
Let's face it - Muslims want all us Westerners dead anyway and they won't stop until they succeed. Then, when all the camel-fuching diaper-heads are scorpion-food we can go in and rape and pillage....

...just kidding on the rape and pillage part.

You don't want to be bogged down in cities fight wars. Just drop some bombs. Done. Now we've got a 51st state, and some oil to go with it.

I for one do not want to be sitting on a frame loaded full of batteries when it shorts out or explodes if you check out the new electric car designs that seems to be where everyone is putting them. You need so many there really isn't very many other options. The fuel cells looked like a good idea at first but they are hydrogen.Didn't they make a fairly nasty bomb out of that stuff?
And as was stated above electric car environmental issues are very mis-leading as they are charged up mostly by coal fired energy plants, one of the main contributors to pollution.
