Money is no object. I do not want to buy a new car. Go figure.:ROTF: Or a pre-owned Lexus.:ROTF:

You did good. And thanks. That could be an option. My step-son is a motor head and I have spent more time on my back under a car. Just try and install a Ford Top Loader by yourself in a '65 Mustang. I did. And, I am 6'6" and 220 at the time. It wasn't fun.:ROTF:

Well here are some ones to look at and avoid:

            AVOID:
Pontiac/Chevy/Buick; good drive trains, good bodies, but the interiors are complete garbage
Fords; Transmission problems seem to plague these
Chrysler/Dodge Vans: According to our mechanic, Chrysler cars have similar issues
Jeeps: Everyone we know who has had one seems to have problem after problem
Older Mitsubishi: Apparently these had reliability issues too
Older Hyundai/Kia: Not only do they burn oil like mad, they seemed to be hit or miss with reliability.
Newer Hyundai/Kia: Well built, but apparently take special spark plugs, and air filters, among other things that are expensive to replace.

            LOOK FOR:
Toyota and Honda: Kind of bland, but they are well built cars
Suzuki: Again, fairly basic and can be low on comforts but are pretty solidcars
Subaru: Another Japanese company that builds very good cars that hold up well

Now that you have got over the "fettness" of this thread, I trully appreciate your input.

Id still look for a junk yard tranny unless you have your heart set on buying another van then try craigslist. Good luck man.

I could buy a really neat classic car. That needs a lot of work.:ROTF:

If you still have all of the money that you got from the sale of your house, you could buy a lot of Mercedes CLK 200 kompressors
                    I wish my hair-color was EDS :/

Since you have breached the minivan barrier, I recommend the Toyota Sienna...beware ones owned by families with little kids...the spilled milk/formula smell NEVER goes away...mine is at 120K miles and still going strong...
Crime doesn't pay. Neither does lutherie...

I don't think fett cares that much about the interior of his car, judging from the interior of his homes

                          :ROTF: ha good one!

I would get a Toyota or Nissan. What about the FJ Crusier? http://www.toyota.com/fjcruiser/index.html

Early Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge vans sucked (weak tranny), but mid-90's and up Chrysler Corp. mini vans are very good. Lots of room in the 9 passenger models, and mileage was 24-26 town/28-30 highway with the V-6 and auto.

Fett, check your local craigslist. For under a grand you can get a decent early 90's chevy van, even one of those ones with the big windows and custom interiors. Perfect for cruising the pawn shops and thrift stores. And you can remove the back seats and have new furniture for the other trailer. A win-win.
