As long as you can get sound INTO your computer, you can record it.

Open the Windows Mixer by double-clicking your Speaker on your taskbar, then select Properties/Recording and select "What U Hear" as your recording source.

Find a free recording program online somewhere that saves as mp3 and have at it.

I have heard Joe (Toejam) and he can play. I, on the other hand am just a rhythm player. I truly do suck at lead playing. Why? Simple. I don't practice enough. I am self taught. Never had anyone to even point me in the right direction.

Joe... is there a recording software you're using with the tone Port? I use a guitar port. And have to start my recording program first then open the port software in that. click record on a track and go. The convert the file to a wave or mp3 dependng on what i want to do with it. The software should have a sound file converter in it some where. Then just up load it to a soundclick or similar site. And there ya go.

I suck up a storm. But if there's a prize to be had, I can play worse!!

I'm in the same boat as StukaJU87; rhythm player, self taught and suck at leads...lol! While I do play a good rhythm, listening to me play is about as exciting as listening to a bass player.

I am experimenting with tabs on a few songs and I have them down pretty good, but my timing sucks and I need to keep drilling at it more. Though after 16 operations on my hands and arms, I am even lucky I can still play! So I am not complaining.

I'm also a self taught player, and I was also a pure rhythm player until a few years ago - and that because I had no idea how to practice properly. Buying a Jackson RR at the age of 30 was the turning point for me. I figured that owning a guitar bearing Randy's name, and not even making an effort to learn to play properly would be a disgrace.

I figured out how to build up chops by practicing slowly, and I've been improving ever since. I wish I had more time to practice though.

I'm definitely in! Been playing for less than 3 years and never had a music or guitar lesson. So I'm guessing I'm pretty up (down?) there.

I'll put it this way... when people ask me if I 'play guitar,' I say "No, but I own several and I like to make noise." LOL

Seriously, in the more than a decade I've owned a guitar(s) I've had the attention span to learn the simplest rhythm parts of a few Metallica songs & Iron Man. I was proud of myself for learning the rhythm part to the Metalocalypse theme song the other day... tho I can't exactly keep time with the CD or Powertab.

Funny thing is I jones for guitars/gear more than my interest in actually learning to use them. Hell, I nearly had a custom built until I thought about how silly it would be to spend all that money on a professional level guitar when I can't play the ones I already have. LMAO

When I tell people I've been playing for thirty years, they comment, "Wow, you must be good"...

                      "It depends on who's listening".

                        I must use this one.

I am not a proffesionel guitarist or anything. Self taught and whatnot. I can play leads well but i do suck at ryhtm playing. I mean i can play ryhtm but i go off the rail most of the time. Still practising.

Browsing through different guitar forums takes a LOT away from practicing. A Lot!

I'd be twice the player I am now if I would have spent half as much time on the internet and used the time on practicing.

But I know many others have the same story to tell so it doesn't bother me that much.

I don't think I would say I suck. But I am a bit sloppy. I'm not crisp, like some. But somewhere in the slop there is some charm...

I can solo fast, but don't really know any scales. So I could give Kerry King a run for his money...

I think my strenght is in my tone. But then I can make that statement. I hardly play for anyone but myself and my cats. My wife will sometimes listen for about 30 seconds before fleeing. But she doesn't understand tone...

I bet most of you guys are decent guitarists. Just modest or slightly worried about falling on your face. It takes some balls to get out in front of people and bring it...
                              I'm angry because you're stupid

                                I'm likely one...
Been playing for 4 years, and people who play for one surpass me (some people).
Can't shred, use scales(don't know them).....
