  • Guitar Gear Gift Ideas?

Looking for some guitar gear-related gift ideas, $200-ish or less. Anyone got some cool suggestions?

For whom? A guitar for a beginner? Effects?

      For me! :ROTF:

Seriously, my family is looking for ideas and I'm at a loss. I'm no beginner. Effects are OK if it's something out of the ordinary - bear in mind that I've got a Boss GT-8, though, so that covers a heck of a lot of the "usual suspects" for effects and amp modelling.

Scope out a Squier Standard Strat. And it has to be a "Standard" on ebay and get it.

Well, heck, assume you're asking for yourself! That way, maybe we'll get a broad scope of ideas that everyone can use.

Based on that, I would go with strings.:ROTF: Just kinda mention how much you love XXXXX Strings.

Do you already have gear that turns your PC or Mac into a multi-track audio recorder? If not, then why not go for a Line6 Toneport? You plug your guitar into it and it into a USB (or, alternatively, firewire) port. They run from about 70 bucks for a GX to 200 bucks for a UX2. All of them come with the same, large collection of amp/effect models. Money well spent, IMO.

That's what I'd get myself if I was asking myself and I didn't already have one, and I wasn't so confused about asking myself questions in the first place.

Need a real Floyd? That's within range.

                      Doh!

How about a decent wah pedal? Can't emulate that. For example, a Crybaby From Hell will set you (or your loved ones with the cash) back 150 bucks.

How about on of these pedals?

                        Just one more guitar!

If you daisy-chain those two pedals together, do they cancel each other out?

Fett: my Floyds are good. I'm pretty set, parts-wise.

Maybe a DI box if you play out and don't want to hassle with miking. A Palmer PDI-09 Direct Connection is within your budget.

If not, maybe some guitar instruction DVD's would fit the bill.

Maybe some custom guitar straps and strap locks to help protect them.

Lastly, what about a new pickup or two?
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

A bullet-proof case? Bottom line is the one thing you would like and tell them.
