(Food related)I'm going to a dinner party tonight...
"When cooking and eating lutefisk, it is important to clean the lutefisk and its residue off of pans, plates, and utensils immediately. Lutefisk left overnight becomes nearly impossible to remove. Sterling silver should never be used in the cooking, serving or eating of lutefisk, which will permanently ruin silver. Stainless steel utensils are recommended instead."
People eat Lutefisk here in Minnesota (lots of Norwegians here). I have never had the pleasure of trying it. I would try it, just for the experience, but I don't think I could get a whole plateful down based on what I've heard.
Please post your opinion here tomorrow. I'll be interested to hear it!

Good Lord! The rod up that man's butt must have a rod up its butt!
Fish and Drano? I think I'll pass, but I bet it keeps your pipes clear!
Too bad you might have the "ring stingers" then next day.

Hehe, I survived guys! I forgot to say though, that I've had lutefisk before, and that I actually like it..And yesterdays party was great, both the food, drinks and the company was superb..
I know, it sounds disgusting, but the fish is very tasty. With all the accompaniments it's a dish with a lot of different flavours..
Now, with all the aquavit I had yesterday - I'm gonna have do get a "hair of the dog"...

Did you have any salted liccorice? I referenced these little treats that I got at IKEA in another thread. The single worst thing I have (tried) to eat and I am not too squeemish!
Seriously, lye soaked fish has to be up there with snorting "Comet". What does it compare to? Something rotten? anchovies? Salty pears? I have to know- but I am not willing to try it after the "liccorice treats" from Sweden that I tried. My nordic ancestors have outdone themselves with this one.

My wife likes to watch the cooking shows on one of 'her' channels, and one time they were preparing lutefisk for some big family reunion. I watched the episode, including them eating it, and that was enough for me.
