  • Energy drinks

How good are they? I tried one called AMP energy tall boy and it felt like it was giving me a mild energy boost. But are there any others that you found quite effective?

the thing is, I feel tired most of the times after a 1/2 to 1 hour visit to a mall or a store. At home, I am pretty active, always cleaning up after my kid or playing the guitar, and never sit at one place just watching the tv. My wife is always working in the kitchen, feeding the baby, tidying up the house and even after all that, she still has lots of energy. seems like she has this energy that never burns out.

    It's a man thing.
Men are the hunters, and when they come into the cave, they camp out.
I feel the same way, and figure that's the way it works.

ive never had any of the "regular" energy drinks (i can only drink the diet or sugar free versions) but Full Throttle gave me the most energy...that is until caffeine started to have no effect on me...or anything else in energy drinks

I hate to admit it, but I'm a huge caffeine junkie... I consume roughly 300mg of the stuff every day. Bawls and Cocaine are my weapons of choice for energy drinks, but they're both hard to get here... so, I usually resort to Jolt or Full Throttle. Just stay the hell away from Monster... I was given a free 24 of it, and I couldn't finish the stuff, tastes like processed-ass.

Also, caffeine pills are where it's at... screw drinking it.

Real bad for the old ticker, though.

I'd say Red Bull and Cocaine are your best bets. AMP is probably one of the weakest ones. Monster actually contains a decent amount of energy crap in it, but it's overly sweet. If you can find it, Monster Java is pretty good; it's like a coffee with all the energy crap in it, but without any aftertastes.

Interesting thread. I need something to get me off my ass and get some shit done.

The problem with caffine (besides the health risk already mentioned) is you get used to it, so it takes more to get you going, and then when you decide to drop it, look out below.

My Dad's girlfriend steals "Buildup Energy" sachets for me from the hospital where she works. To me, it just tastes like ordinary milkshake. They're effective for about 30-60 mins, then I just pile on the cups of tea. The strawberry's ok, the vanila is borderline manky, the chocolate is minging.

Diet rockstar taste like a stripper (female that is). I quite enjoy the old DRS

Also, the blue "Zero Carb" Monster hits the spot and as a little less skanky than the RockStar.

Only RedBull (non diet) hits the spot with Vodka

I like Monster "Zero Carb" too. I've been meaning to try one of those new "5 hour energy" ones, the look more like a shot than a drink.

Havent tried the monster yet. However, I have seen ads on tv about the 5 hour energy shots. I'm interested. I think I will hit the nearest 7-11 and see if they carry some.

How's your diet? How often do you eat each day? Reliance on caffeine as a stimulant can, over time, negatively affect your adrenal gland and screw up your metabolism.

Treat the problem not the symptom, IMO.

Thrust is right...caffeine as a crutch can be a slippery slope. I actually like the Starbucks espresso shot thing.

You should just do some lines instead.
