Stop whining.
People will never stop complaining about this, and they have every right to do so. Zakk's been in the business long enough to know that if you endorse a deal, your name rides on it. If he didn't check out the 357 guys, he should have - and if he would have, he'd have found the NASCAR scam. so he's got it coming.

When you mention "greed" do you include Jeri and Toejam who posted to this thread that they went for the deal? Sure, they might have contented themselves that the diecast and the shirts were worth the money they paid - after it was obvious that no one was getting guitars.

But I don't think either of them, or many of those scammed, would have bought that stuff without the expectation of a guitar for their $190 including shipping. They probably figured that was cost + 10% for making an Epi Zakk LP and shipping it to the US - a reasonable assumption for a promotional deal.

Zakk didn't check the deal out before he signed off on it. He might have been scammed too, but when you put your name up, you take some responsibility.

He will NEVER live that down, nor should he. He shouldn't be crucified for it either, but he can man up and take the flak he's got coming. And so can his fans.

He's also the weakest of Ozzy's guitarists.... Randy, Jake, Brad, Joe Holmes, all smoke his pentatonic pinching ass. Not that he's not good, but try to make it 8 bars without doing a pinch sometime! He's to pinch harmonics what Hammett is to the wah - a punchline.

And I'd made it my mission in life to turn the pinch harmonic into a punchline!

while I agree 357 deal scam was a major bum rap if a deal is too good to be true, its too good to be true...people fell for it hook, line and sinker so they are bitter about it...they should be equally as pissed off at themselves as they are of 357 or Zakk.

Now I don't giver a shit about the whole 357 thing...but Zakk is a solid guitar player and has kept the guitar solo alive in a period where guitar was basically dead...he stuck to his guns.

If you dont like Zakks playing thats fine, if you dont like his image thats fine as well but he didnt hold a gun to you head and rob you out of anything...folks were just gulible and fell for a scam.. plain and simple.

He certainly needs to cut down on the pich harmonics that's for sure.

As for the people who got scammed, I'm just playing devil's advocate here. Some good people got taken for a ride, and as I said, that sucks, but bitching about Zakk ain't gonna get you your money back. It's just annoying to everyone else. The guy who orchestrated the whole thing is the one who should be catching the shit for it, but because he's a nobody, it's no fun to post threads about what a douche he is, right?

I had a chance to get in on the deal at the start, and opted out. I could have gone for it, and if I had, and lost money, I can tell you right now that I wouldn't keep bringing it up on a forum. It's best to leave a scab alone, and let it heal than to keep picking at it.

Eh, whatever. Do what you want. it's just really annoying.

The whole point was that if it wasnt endorsed directly by Zakk, noone would have gone for it. I think people thought, for once, that good deals CAN happen, especially being backed by one of the most popular guitarists out there. Obviously we were all wrong...

I didnt get my merch... all I got was a diecast. They shut down before I could use the gift certs... so yeah, I paid $190 for a diecast POS bike. In all honesty, I constantly mention it to help people not in-the-know realize what a piece of shit poser ZW is. Id have been happy with a nice public apology, but we didnt even get that... All we got was "Ah that sucks, I was burned too... oh well."

              Fuck him.

I didn't get scammed by the 357 promo deal, but it made me lose a lot of respect of Zakk. Not to mention I think the quality of his work has gone down hill significantly. He should have spoken up and apologized AT LEAST instead of sticking his head in the sand and ignoring it.

Back on topic though, that singer does sound a bit like Zakk, but it sounds more like a generic 90s grunge band.
I'm gonna eat your brains and gain your knowledge.

But he became a complete douchebag and then some after screwing thousands of this fans via 6 straight months of scams on his website frontpage. When his dumb ass finally figured it out, all he could do was lie about it and cry "I got royally fist f'd" with no concern for his fans who lost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Anyone who would make a stupid statement like this needs to shut his mouth and be educated.

                      Commence education:

                      1. The scams ran for 6 straight months from the frontpage of Zakk's official website.

                      2. Every zakkwylde.com website member got official emails from [email protected] asking them to participate.

                      3. Zakk's official webmaster went on and on and on promising the deal was legit.

                      4. Zakk's manager Bob Ringe said the deals were legit.

                      5. Zakk's guitar player got his very own students into the guitar deals.

                      6. Barb Wylde was contacted and said it was legit.

                      7. Gibson guitars verified that 357 Customs had orders for Epi ZW guitars.

There is plenty more and I could go on and on.

                        Preach on boss!

Zakk and the management of Black Label Society lost a lot of very good customers in the scam. I'm lucky, I received my merchandise (which has long since been eBayed), and I received one (the larger) chargeback of two. I'm lucky that I pretty much broke even. Good thing metaljunkie and I went into the whole thing skeptical also.

I hold ALL parties involved accountable. Zakk has as much liability as 357 in that the promotion was run from HIS website by his EMPLOYEE. No, I will never spend a penny of my money to support anything involving Zakk Wylde on principle alone.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who hasn't forgiven or forgotten after all this time.

It was annoying, too, when people who went for the deal jeered at people who tried to warn them for months that it was a stinky deal. "Oh, you'll be sorry when WE get our Zakk LPs and YOU ain't got SHIT!"

It's annoying when people try to tell you they sent off $190 not EXPECTING a guitar for their money. Accepting that you got some cheap merch for your 2 bills AFTER the fact I can see, but be serious!

It's annoying when people absolve Zakk and his people when they pushed the deal right until it fell through, then suddenly they knew nothing about it.

Which is why Zakk deserves to take crap about this for the rest of his life, or until he gets a Zakk LP for each person who bought into 357. He put his name on it. If he didn't check it out, he should have, and he reassured people as if he had. He put his name forward to back a scam. Ignorance is no excuse, if he didn't know, he should have. That's how these things go in law, the law holds him responsible because a reasonable man should have made sure the deal was legit if he put his name on it.

So for being so naive, and actually giving grief to the people who tried for long months to warn you to get your money back while you could, yeah you can take some ribbing about it when it occasionally comes up.

It was an easy scam to fall for no doubt you guys who got burned just need ot live and learn instead of bitching about it....forgivre, forget and move on. Zakk isnt comng to your house to give you money back and say he's sorry .

I like a quote that a couple people on Harmony Central have at the bottom on their posts:

"I hope whoever puts a bullet thru Zakk Wylde's head gets a free Epiphone Bullseye guitar."
