If there are no outward signs of illness, suicide, or homicide it could listed as accidental. Most municipalities will list the cause as pending. There may have been some circumstantial evidence at the scene that led them to label it as accidental. Once a tox report and autopsy comes back the ruling can be changed.

I don't know, I'm more inclined to think it was an accident. His old habits apparently revolved around cocaine. You do mass quantitied of coke and keep taking the stuff for days in your binge.

Sedative drugs are a bit different. It would be easy to take some and think it's not enough to have given you a buzz, when it really just hasn't kicked in yet. Then you take another, and it's just too much, or just enough to stop a heart that was weakened from a decade or two of heavy coke use.

It seems that a lot of former coke users are dying in their sleep by mixing drugs like oxycontin and methadone. The drugs just work differently and coke users are used to getting the effect immediately. "No immediate effect? Guess I need to up the dosage."

"Aw hell, I'm tired. Guess I'll lie down for a bit..."

It may well have been that simple.

Well, they already did a physical autopsy so I think they would have found that and we'd know. The autopsy was inconclusive, hence the tox screen being so important.

Yep lexr, definately could be an OD, found in bed certainly backs that up.

It really doesn't matter, it's just a sad thing when this kind of thing happens.
