I just think it's stupid rewriting characters like that. You want a new character, make a new one instead of recycling old ones.

I wasn't planning on even watching this movie, but now I'll probably get it on DVD. What changed my mind was Gwyneth Paltrow's interview and clip on Letterman's show last week. She said a lot of Downey's lines were ad-libbed, and that kind of acting is fascinating to me. Her character seemed like a dryly comical bitch, which I also usually enjoy watching.
I never really followed Iron Man outside the Avengers. The name "Pepper Potts" sounds awfully familiar, so I assume she's appeared in the comics. I don't know if GP's portrayal is "re-write" of the character, though.please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinkingComment

I saw the movie yesterday and quite liked it. I'm a fan of superhero comics in general and somewhat well versed in the exploits of the comics Iron Man. I especially liked the actors. Jeff Bridges did a spectacular job as the villain and Gwyneth, god damn! Not to mention Mr. Downey who was dead on as the tormented playboy.
In the comics there's some depth to the character of Tony Stark, I hope they do something interesting in the sequel. Not that the superhero movies have been very character concentric...
Best superhero movie since the first X-Men which I thought also rested on great acting and casting.
Saw the Hulk trailer too. Edward fucking Norton! I'm definetely seeing that movie.Comment
