There does seem to be a large influx of new members in the past few months. But I don't think the post quality has gone down. You'll always have a few douches-of-the-day, but mixed in there are good members, like Cyg, even if he was a bit of a post whore

A lot of it has to do with age and maturity. I try to post everyday on these forums, but a lot of the time I can't find anything to strike my interest, and I'd rather not have all my posts saying "nice guitar dude, I love the finish." or "I'm not a fan of that guitar..", to me, if you can't really contribute something worthwhile to a thread, it's not worth adding your two cents in. I noticed that the people have who have been here longer are very nice and knowledgeable, but there are still a lot of "newer" members that are knowledgeable and nice. Of course, there are a lot of new members with the lack of common courtesy, and there are also the veteran members that just think they're hot shit and don't care for new members. It goes both ways.
I personally prefer to read more than I write, because this forums standards are a lot different than what I'm use to posting at and I enjoy to read and absorb everyones opinions rather than runnin' my Italian mouth off.
My main point - everyone needs to start somewhere, and the members that are new to online communities will eventually pick up on the standards that are shown, however, if they are seeing other people be assholes to others, they'll pick up on that as well.Originally posted by horns666The only thing I choke during sex is, my chicken..especially when I wanna glaze my wife's buns.

Meh - you shoulda seen my very first post - a scathing tirade against the mindless meedly wanking and the wankers who wank for the sake of wanking that everyone else was inexplicably enamored with.
I mean, if you're confrontational and argumentative, why hide it?I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

You know I kid.
I came to class to learn, and put myself in the same
corner with the rest of the oddities of the class. Not a bad to place to
be, in my opinion.
Yup, you're VV, I'm Cyg, fet is fett, etc. No offense taken.Last edited by Cygnus X1; 12-07-2007, 04:45 PM.

hehehehehehehehehe... Fett jr... Funny....
That first day was something. Most of us won't forget it...
EDIT: Forgot to answer the question. I think some people just like to get a rise out of the masses. They do this to draw attention to themselves because they are lacking something somewhere. It's easy to do it on the internet, it takes bigger balls to do it in real life...Last edited by Bengal; 12-07-2007, 04:58 PM.I'm angry because you're stupid

Calm down. Seems the only people allowed to be douches are the long time, hardcore contributors. Yes, I think the, 'this place stinks these days, what the hell happened to my forum?' business is distasteful. I have and DO use the search function. From what I've seen, these "problems" and the griping about it are nothing new.
I'm sure i've come off as a douche a time or two online. It's pretty easy to do. Usually one tries to be funny, with a little jibe or two - and someone takes it all very seriously, shoots back and there goes the neighborhood. Fux em if the can't take a joke.
I'll admit that there's some rules and guidelines here that I don't quite get, and I'll probably break decorum absentmindedly. I would guess this board will die a little by little over time, just like J/C . I try to keep Jackson going with my individual efforts, here and elsewhere. But I was oblivious to the changes at J/C in the last 5 years. If I was up close and personal to the problems, like a lot of you active members from today and days past, I don't know if I would be hanging out here.

I will consider myself a noob here until the day comes when I will actually be able to post something of value to someone else. Talk about mission impossible.
I think the problem comes in two flavors. One type is the person who sees the ribbing and banter among the regulars/old timers and they figure that they will just jump right in like they were always here. Bad move, IMO. You don't just go walking down the street, see a group of people and join in the conversation like you are an old friend. That is a prescription for getting your ass kicked royally.
The second type is the typical asshat who thinks that the world revolves around them (wes, for example). These are typically young people who lack the common sense gene, and invariably they do not last very long.
I post with the thought that the last thing I want to do is piss anyone off, and if I think I may have inadvertently done so I am quick to apologize for it. I can count the number of forums I am a member of on two hands and have fingers left over, and I can count the number of forums I post on regularly on one hand and have fingers left over.
I read lots of forums, but join very few. Places like HC are like the zoo to me. Interesting to see, but forget about going into the cages with the animals.

It's also seems to be a reflection of society in general, which seems to be losing a significant amount of common sense and common decency. I suspect a lot of it is due to s**t-headed parenting.
